I know it's speculative because we haven't seen the price yet, but one the gripes I, and probably all of us have had with Levy over the years is that he's not very good at weighing the intangible costs of failing to complete a deal. For example in the case of Moutinho not spending a couple of million extra to ensure the deal got over the line before the window closed probably ended up costing us far more due to the ill-will it stirred up between AVB and the management almost before his tenure had even begun.

If we do get this deal done perhaps it's a sign that he's had an epiphany and realised that his ruthless cold-blooded approach to transfers can sometimes cost us as much as it saves us?

I was just thinking exactly the same thing on the way down to the off licence there.

I think he's realised that sometimes, and I mean sometimes as he's clearly brillant on the whole at this shit, its worth the stretch. Particularly with a new manager and given the circumstances he's got to back him - so might as well give him the tools he wants.

Levy knows, full well, if he doesn't back Poch with signings this summer and we do poorly and he fires him that some fans will direct their anger at him.

It's weird, I was hardly a regular poster on COYS but I do miss it now I can't look at it
I'm not a poster, but there are certainly some contributors whose input is worth browsing through. Definitely prefer it here...just a shame about the posters...

Can't remember anything like this happening to a Premier League team in my life time. Villa sold/released the core of a decent team over the course of two seasons but shit..

Poor Saints fans.
Leeds similar just before they got relegated? Least that was because they were in administration so had no choice

J rod would be a huge gamble in my opinion. Can't guarantee a player gonna be the same after that injury. It really is 50/50. Be happy with a Jan purchase if back to normal and still wanted/needed

I think noodles just lifted it from HH which reads to me like speculation. It'll probably happen but I wouldn't consider it ITK from HH.

Noodles is cool mate...Harry Hotspur is another thing all together.
Nah, I know they're different, but HH popped up first with the scoop from his source but people saying he's the worst of the worst...but he was ahead of Noods...unless....

There's not a solitary ITk that can claim any kind of credit for the rapidity in which these deals seem to have crept up.
Or the papers, they've all been quoting £27m for days on end.

Literally an hour before this broke I wrote up that Ari Gold had said we'd done a lot of work on Rodriguez; he implied nothing more, at that point there was NOTHING doing in the ITK world regards either player.

Fascinating, and again the best ITK is coming out of the clubs we're dealing with and zero from our end.
Been that way all summer.

Levy has shut down the ITK.
Just four days ago, from The Goat: The Goat has heard that we've bid a couple of times for Schneiderlin. Also that he wants out so the latest bid is likely to be accepted. The number The Goat is hearing is £16m and that it could take a while if they accept. I haven't checked the rest of the Read Only but I think that's a fair enough post from the hairy one.

Levy will never shut down ITK.
