Where do you think the most work is needed?

I think the USA tour was good for the fitness side of things, the hot weather and teams in the middle of their seasons would have helped, especially for the players who were injured at the back end of last season.

I was more interested in how the lads adapted to Poch's style and I think the attacking side of things have adjusted quicker than the defensive side. The front four at times have looked the part at times in terms of pressing high and counter attacking with Lamela, Soldado and Holtby looking like they're enjoying it most.

Obviously we've now got the World Cup players to come back but I still feel like there is a lot of work needed (as usual) at the back and we still probably need to buy a player in the middle and move on the likes of Ekotto and improving on Dawson if we can.

I don't think we'll do much more in the window, center back and striker I think is only places we're short. We've got an abundance of midfielders (again, as usual) and unless we sell some I can't see us doing anything in that area.

CB is what we need. Not someone who's going to be fighting for a place, but a stand out, first name on the team sheet player - someone to partner Verts without question.

Attacking wise, I'm happy enough. With Lamela, Soldado and Erikson, certainly making it clear that they have the ability to at least form some sort of understanding, Ade and Kane providing different options, I think our current attackers deserve at least until Xmas before being usurped.

Decent left sided player would be a bonus, but is the least concerning of the places we realistically should be looking to fill.

I agree that the forward areas look to have adapted to The Poch Game more quickly than the defence - though I did feel that the team as a whole was more like our default of last season, last night, with less emphasis on moving the ball forward (but it was hot, apparently :)). I also think the midfield, and particularly Etienne Capoue (or Kapo as the Yanks have decided to call him), has.

The problem with the defence is that, I fear, poor old Daws is in effect being led on. We all know he isn't going to be suited, we all expect him to be sold. And two of our probable centre-halves of next season aren't available on the tour - maybe a little concerning that Kaboul didn't make an appearance last night (though maybe Poch has already decided he'll do and wanted a better look at the other two). Veljkovic is a good prospect, but not likely to be first choice next season. I have noticed the centre-halves moving out to full-back while the DM drops back to give the Keeper options while covering the forward moving full-backs. So that is something they have taken on board.

If we do buy a forward I suspect Poch will be going all out of Jay Rodriguez, and that would either mean having an injured forward for the first few months or waiting until January - either one of which will mean we start with the options we have (not that I would be overly worried by that, personally). I can't believe we won't bring at least one centre-half in. I can see some of our midfield being shipped out to make room for Schneiderlin, though - the interest is clearly there, and managers often like to bring at least one player with them.

We need to get the rest of the guys back now to give Poch time on working with them. Need to see how Ade, Jan, Dembele, Lloris etc fit into the work he has been doing already. Soldado has looked good so far pre-season but I reckon Ade could flourish as well under Poch so it'll be interesting to see how that pans out.

Our Strikers and our Central defenders

I havnt seen any of the pre season stuff so far but I hear Bobby has played quite a few minutes and his lack of goals is really starting to worry me.

Is he really a goalscorer?
Maybe he just can't adjust to the English style
Maybe we should cut are losses now and replace him?
Maybe it's still too early to tell?
Maybe we should wait until January to see how he’s getting on?

Does anyone know how many goals he scored from open play last season in how many games?

The first two games were perfect for us to really hammer home the message to poch that the defence needs work. It's hard to judge much on the midfield & forward line with so many not back yet but from what we saw I think lennons stock would have risen after his good linkup play with lamella and soldado while townsend showed himself to be as limited as most of us have feared (hope he can develop a more rounded game under poch) been a decent tour thou and think Poch will be happy so far

CB for obvious reasons.

LWF we are desperate for a Rodriguez, Remy type if the system is to work properly.

DM we are short imo, Paulinho and Dembele aren't capable of playing the system the way it needs to be. Schneiderlin if he sign him or Holtby has to play there otherwise it will just be another problem area.

ST Soldado will do well this season in my opinion however if we can get Bony or Lukaku we simply must be all over that.

I can see us bringing in one or maybe two more tops and that will probably be deadline day, its a bit risky and stupid to wait that Long imo but its something our chairman likes to do.

Yes he is a goalscorer, he's being asked to do a different job in a new system, last year in a new league and now with a new manager. Also remember it's only pre season. Goals will come, it's pattern of play and fitness at this point, especially with what poch wants.

He's also linked with the attacking midfielders well, he set up both of lamelas goals, own and scored a pen in the first game and generally looked pretty good to me. Expecting better things from him next season

Hasn't he scored one set up three in 135 minutes?

Bobby's been brilliant with his assists - two for Lamela and then this one for Lennon which is magic

IMO the areas that need to be addressed are the ones where coaching can't bring any improvement. That means CB first and foremost where Dawson lacks pace, Kaboul is seriously injury prone and Vlad lacks the physicality. We could certainly do with shifting a few out as well.

Really too hard to say where we are right now. We need to see how the WC guys, and injured players, integrate into the squad/system.

Lloris and Vertonghen will make the back line better, Dembele, Paulinho, Sandro, Bentaleb will factor into the midfield roles, Chadli could be a factor on the wing, Ade will work his way back into the picture up top.

Watching 3 preseason games with a bunch of squad, or lower, players does not really give us much, given how little everyone played, and the way in which the players were paired. At best it gives us a glimpse at some players who could play roles with the first team this year.

I feel we need another striker.

Ade is great on his day, but heavens knows when his day is.

Soldado could be great but again with last season being so difficult it is no guarantee.

Kane is a good back up, but he is only a back up.

I feel we would have really pressed on to try and sign a strike if we had any offers for Soldado, but it seems we must sweat that asset for better or poorer

I don't understand why our next friendly is in Finland. Surely it's not as lucrative as the US/Asia.

I'd much prefer the lads being back in London, with Poch putting them through some drills.
