This bit of Trix's ITK struck me:

Now let's reword that a bit:

Or how about this version:

Or this one:

Funny how different those versions sound. But they're the same. It's a hierarchy and we're just one rung above Southampton, just as Real Madrid and Man Utd are one rung above us (not sure about Chelsea, mind...). I doubt people will recall this and abate the hate, next time a more successful club tries to poach one of our star players.
The thing is Madrid and Barcelona control the media to get players/tap players up.

If Liverpool are interested in Lovren we have no chance without a buy out clause. They will have bagloads of money after they sell the cannibal to Barcelona. They will overbid us for sure.

Jay Rodriquez would be handy but I really think we should be waiting until his fit to play again until we attempt sign. ACLs are a right bugger (I've done mine) and not everyone comes back the same.

Does the player have no say in all this ?

He is ni the papers as 8-10 but the ITK mentioned them wanting Sig. I said maybe Sig plus 6 (just an illustration) and someone said Sig is worth 10 so now we have a deal of Sig + 6 = 16. It frankly comes out of nowhere.

What i will say is that if that were the deal then it doesn't simply add up in that way. I am not convinced we'd get 10 for Sig because he's not had the best season, we probably want him out and clubs will be aware of this so will low-ball. We could reject every offer below 10 but then are likely to have a depreciating asset sitting in the reserves for another 6 months until we accept a low offer in Jan. So ha may be worth 10 as a player but to our club he may only be worth 5 or 6.

Anyway all pie in the sky so no point arguing the merits of the value

How much did we sell Livermore for?? Siggy should be at least 2m more than him

Bit I missed from earlier....(if you don't consider Ali Z ITK then ignore)

Davies is looking very likely as of last night, any other deals for Swansea players or Siiggi are way off.

Even though we always have to take it with a gallon of salt, I'm very happy regarding Ali Z's ITK about Gylfi, I would love him to stay personally.

I'd actually advise to wait on Rodriguez. His injury is going to have him out until the Spring at the earliest. Why buy now? Why not wait until after we see if what we already have (Chadli, Lamela, Soldado, Ade, etc) can do for us what Jay did for SH? If they can't then purchase Jay in January. At that point he still will not have played since the injury, not like he can play his way out of our price range in the mean time.

It's a weird one, he's about to enter his final year of contract at the Saints, he's free to talk to clubs in the winter and move on a free next summer, and as you say could well be out till Spring at least.

I get the argument for waiting, but I see two upsides from signing him now

1) It stops us getting gazumped should another club decide to bid for him having seen him make a successful recovery
2) It would help his transition if he got a chance to get to know his new team mates etc during his recovery

I'd look at Shawcross, Caulker and Curtis Davies as realistic options that could do a good job. How was Ashley Williams last season by the way? He was stellar in the 12/13 season.
Talk about a lack of ambition....
