We replaced one player with 7 last summer who turned out to be all duds so far and I would argue will stay that way plus I think we didn't spend much on top of that .... Paulinho best of bad bunch but jury still out --- I blame levy cos when push comes to shove we never push on and show some real ambition and leadership ... We always fall short ,, bottom line levy is trying to do it on the cheap ... The first team needs 4 or 5 top players to challenge Top 4 next season without question .lets see what we do this summer is what I say
Well, the signings looked very good at the time, and we were all rather ecstatic, weren't we? You can't blame Levy for not being psychic. We have been able to challenge for top 4 under Levy before, and I see no reason why we won't be able to do that again.

:playful:

Haha, shit, it's like all my SC nightmares just came true in one post.

This is either the most balls-out troll post in history or someone actually thinks this, in which case it looks like its suicide again for me...

7 duds? I thought Eriksen had a pretty good season with a very strong end to the season. It certainly compared well with modric's first season.

As for the duds well let's see Lamela injury free before we flat him alive. I honestly believe that Soldado was bought with Bale joint him in the front line. When Bale went he was playing in a role and system that was not really suited.

As for the others Capoue, Paulinho, Chiriches and Chadli I think they all suffered under the pressure of integrating 7 new signings and a change of manager in real life and it not being a computer game.

If and buts but any one who takes off the spurs blinkers will see spurs were never in with shout for 4th -- too predictable and too shit against big teams --- if we played all the top 5 teams again and united we would lose them all again ... That's way it is and will alwAys will be with levy in charge .. We go well till Xmas time and then fuckin give up the fight cos no balls passion or heart for it when real players come to the table and put spurs in their place
That's the way it always will be? So the recent years where we've broken long streaks without a win vs arsenal, Chelsea, united etc just didn't happen did they? We've come off a bad season where the management of the squad was shambles, players were unhappy and disjointed and we've been bereft of a plan both on and off the pitch. That is why we lost, not because of the quality of the players we have. Btw it would also be nice if your vocabulary for expressing negative views expanded further than just everything being shit, just saying :)

Interesting article in the Guardian about Pochettino. I thought this part was interesting:
"Our style of play is to win back the ball as soon as possible and then play it," he explained. "We moved forward our lines and play more upfield. When we lose the ball we must have the mentality of winning it back as soon as possible. It may seem like we are running more but really we are just running in a more organised way."

Let's look at these duds:
Soldado - suffered due to being played wrong system, and confidence shattered by both avb and Sherwood, but can be argued as a dud based on price.
Lamela - young, promising, season crippled by injury as well as reports he struggled to settle in area as well as with language. He himself has said this and has worked on English, family is here. Jury out til next season
Paulinho - 3rd best player in confeds cup last summer, expected to start at WC, not seen his best in a spurs shirt yet, but understandable. Sold idea of avb and bale, both gone quickly, then had Sherwood as manager so IMO understandably looked jaded and questioning spurs, not to mention new league and style of football. Again, wait and see.
Capoue - people were raving about him at the start if the season! Has missed 50% of the season due to injuries and his manager for second half of the season said he didn't know who he was!
Chadli - has done a job for us, not a first team starter but has shown quality he has, just needs to up his consistency.
Chiriches - came in with no real expectation on his shoulders so not sure how he can be a dud? Has put in motm performances for us, notably the united game. Again one who needs to work on consistency, won't have been helped by change mid season.
Eriksen - 11 million for a superstar in the making. All that needs to be said really.

Sorry for the length of this, just the negativity around ATM is really pissing me off. We are a good team. We have a quality squad. We are looking to get a highly rated coach, whoever we bring in. With a bit of organisation and a plan we will go places. For the love of god we definitely don't need 5 players for the first team to challenge top 4. last summer we were saying we could challenge for the title, let's get some of that optimism back (even if it is with lily white tinted specs)!!!

Bit of Rock Solid
Either Podgy or Frankie Boy. Bit concerned that FDB's style may be a bit too much like AVB. i.e. bore the other team to death with possession stuff but like the dynastic flavour, after so many failed attempts.

disagreed.
capoue had been promising before he got badly injured at early stage of the season. when he's recovered, he lost chances since les said we didn't need dms.

god knows what happened with lamela's back. it is unfair to say he's a dud cos he simply hasn't played much. he was looking really promising at the europa league match against sheriff as i remembered.

okay, we can say penaldado hasn't contributed enough goals for us, but tbf was our midfield feeding enough passes? i still remember early in the season he made great runs but townsend ruined opportunity, choosing to shoot from 20+ yards and bang nowhere near instead of passing the ball to our lone striker.

chadli has produced a couple of nice goals. he was able to provide far better cover for rose than siggy, eriksen, etc. Yet, best-winning-rate-record-holder-saint-tim-sherwood decided to put him at cm, a position that he hasn't been most comfortable with. blames on player?

eriksen is apparently awarded our player of the season.

vlad's performance has been improving. yes he made a couple of mistakes led to goal conceding, but who else in the team didn't? are you claiming verts a dud? vlad provided promising defending against aerial thread andy carroll in the second half of the most recent west ham match and we are one man down, a surprise that i didn't expect from him. he also did provide some promising defense when verts was injured early this season. i cannot expect more from what we paid for to get him.

paulinho has been showing promising quality with brazilian int. team. let see how he goes in the world cup finals, then we judge it's our problem or the team's.

I really feel the success of our next manager will be in the hands of the fans. We need to get behind our man through good times and bad.
We criticised nearly every manager we've had even AVB came out and had a go at the fans.

Come on Spurs fans all around the world, let's put a stop to us being the laughing stock of the league (y)(y)(y)(y)

Plus they've all suffered injuries with Lamela and Capoue missing over 50% of the season.

Capoue, Paulinho and Eriksen in a midfield 3 with the right coaching = a mouth watering prospect.

Chadli has done well when played in the right position.

Chiriches has looked bright in spells, and I think he'll flourish when our midfield starts closing down again.

Soldado is the only one who's failed to live up to the hype but there's a number of reasons for this - new league, new team mates, lack of service for huge chunks of the season, obvious poor handling by AVB and Dimwood, plus his wife has recently had a baby. I would like to see how he does next season, that's if we can/decide to keep him.

This. People have a go at levy for being trigger happy, but the fans are always calling for the managers head long before he acts. The only sacking I recall people being unhappy about was jol really. Redknapp had some supporters but a lot were anti arry too because of how it ended.

Does he say/make clear wether it's him that's "a bit concerned" or the club? If it's the club then can someone sling it into the RO (i'm off for a spot of dinner) if it's him then we'll leave it as it's his own onion. Ta.
