that's twice i've seen Capoue in over sandro for the starting DM position,

has he really justified that already?

Sandro is still regaining fitness. Capoue bar about 5-10 mins in the NLD has looked very good. Actually just before he went off injured he was playing better.

Just my thought: GB11 sale came one year earlier than expected I think we all knew he was off next year. I was gutted once it became apparent he was going to be off this summer but all things considered the board have managed to turn an unexpected event very much in our favor. We strengthened the squad overall added some really quality, quality I might add I never expected. Would have liked a Left Back but I think that was down to Fabio C not really fancying us so once our very top target was not available I don't think we were prepared to buy a stop gap solution. And it would have been nice to have got a striker, but again not shifting Defoe or Ade it was never likely that was going to happen. All in all I am baffled what people have to complain about.

Other than that I am quite happy that was have made zero net spend this transfer window. Actually I am quite proud of that. Great business IMO, the business we have done has been eye opening for other fans and probably the envy of Europe.

Confident given time everything will filter down onto the pitch. Come January I think we will finish off our summers business and get that elusive LB and WF/ST and it is nice feeling going into January we have so little business to do, to improve the squad.

And I think it is a given *some* people will keep slagging off some of our new players. But nothing is different about that, they did it to, Carrick, Berbatov, Modric, Bale, Kaboul, Etc Etc. And look how they turned out.

WOW ! looks like Spurs & Newcastle ended in profit after transfer window - Times.

No point in saying there i no net spend because in most signings we have got what we want. Levy deserves a lot of credit. Will this guarantee top4 ? no. But atleast gives us a good footing for next 3 years when most of these signings will be part of.

Sandro has 14 days to recover- so he should come back fully fit

The "zero" net spend must mean that we are saving money to pay as much of the stadium up front as we can. We are one of the top 15 earners in revenue in all of Europe, and we have sold more than we've bought the last three years. We must be sitting on a pile of cash somewhere.

I love the squad but I feel like some extra spend could have been prudent for us to increase our chances to qualify. Sure, some of our targets might have said no to us (no CL), but I feel like this squad still needs more striking options.

Hopefully, some movement on the stadium comes in the near future, and that would explain our focus on minimizing transfer spend the last few windows. Basically, we've been able to buy an entire team by selling Modric, Bale, and a few other players.

If it means we have more cash available to pay for the stadium up front so we finance less of it with debt and future liabilities, then fair play to Levy for keeping the club healthy.

Completely agree with both these points.

Eriksen is going to be absolutely world class. The lad is only 21 but has been the standout performer in what is the best team in the Eredivisie - a league which, by the way our own Jan Vertonghen also plied his trade - for years. Modric only ever played in the Croatian league, took a while to get settled, and was rejected as being too lightweight for the PL, and look how he turned out.

Regarding Arsenal, two points really are clear. Ozil is (really annoyingly) bloody good, and will cause defences all kinds of headaches. The other is that despite this, they still have the same issues remaining unresolved that will be their undoing - an absolutely pisspoor defence, a cocky goalie who doesn't have anywhere near the ability to back it up, and worst of all, one injury to Giroud away from playing Nicklas Fucking Bendtner up top!

Don't you mean best of all? :)

I think people were getting their knickers in a twist yesterday because they'd been somehow tricked by the media, Arsenal fans and the more arrogant gloaty Spurs fans that on Sunday the cash rich giants Tottenham consisting of over £100m of galacticos, all nicely bedded in and playing the way AVB has instilled in them, lost to the plucky underdog Arsenal who time and time again punch above their weight and would be relegated if it wasn't for the genius of Wenger.

Can't wait to see how we develop over the season - so excited.

And media have already got their next fall guy - Moyes. If he has few more rough resultsi in near future, believe me he will be under severe pressure and could even derail their season.
Lets see what happens there.

I know most of us were hoping to sign a LB but this is still arguably our best transfer window ever. We lost GB and it was sad watching him on SSN being presented in the white colours of RM and not Spurs, but this is life. We move on! No player is bigger than the club. I still honestly believe we have a MUCH STRONGER squad than last season. It's only a matter of time before our new signings flourish under AVB's coaching expertise.

Never be jealous of the scum down the road! If they signed our 7 new players and we signed Ozil, I'm sure we would be moaning about the quality of their squad, while we're stuck with Dempsey, Parker etc etc.

I'll see you guys around January. Until then, try not to stress too much (Yehhhh righttttt) :)

Take care.

I have to give credit to Rodgers - Liverpool really looked organised & Arse no doubt would be strengthened. City & United under pressure from expectations. Chelsea - well - tbh it will be run like a well oiled machine.

As for as us, we have talents in our new signings. I truly hope AVB the coach takes over now & produce results on the field. If he can do that there is no reason why we cant compete with every one else.

Very worried about left back, we have gone from potentially bae and coentrao to rose. Can we recall bae?

We haven't gone from potentially BAE as AVB doesn't like him and doesn't play him as you saw last season.

Sad to see Tom Carroll go on loan - to QPR of all places. Speaking of which, with BAE QPR seem to have loaned two of our players. I thought the league rule was that it was a maximum of one from a club - or is that just for the Prem?.

Gives the Harry haters something to talk about and enjoy.

Is there any info as to why we couldn't land Coentrao? Did he turn us down? Did RM refuse to deal with us?

Hopefully he won't end up at United as RM's replacement for him also seems not to have been signed in time. If he does though, i think thats one that needs explaining when we seem to have wanted him all summer and should have made him part of the Bale deal if only on loan.

Thank fuck that's over

Thank fuck indeed.

I cannot wait to just settle down and watch this bloody lovely team of ours. That's what it's all about, not manically f5'ing the fuck out of the ITK thread. Sometimes I wish I could just stay away from the interweb during TW's. Yeah, that's not gonna happen.

Lamela is the highlight for me.
Whilst he and in truth nobody can replace the 'force of nature' talents of That Welsh Bloke, he's clearly a star, of that I have no doubt.
All the other signings have significant potential to succeed, even poor old unfairly criticised Chadli, and the wealth of options we have is mind boggling. Only injuries to Lloris or Soldado lack ideal cover, but retaining Ade goes some way to solving that. Lloris is irreplacable though.

Left back isn't the problem people think it is. Rose is a decent performer and contrary to a heck of a lot of received opinion, Naughton can cover there easily. Purely because he is right footed and steady, people underrated his effectiveness.

Ozil makes sense for them up the road. Their manager thinks they will grow into a great team & he'll be the cherry on the cake. Thankfully he is oblivious to their failings.
Utd were a joke in the market too, which was great to see.

A word for Vlad Chiriches: rarely have I seen a player so happy to join the club. I really hope he can repay our faith and blossom into a dominant centre back.

This special relationship equalled one thing, and only thing only: first option on our players.

Levy knew that well have bigger clubs being interested in our players, better to sell them abroad than to domestic teams. Can you imagine if Bale was kissing the badge of Manchester United? Be so much worse.

It's a youth level partnership as was said at the time, nothing more.

So are we all chipping in to buy JJ a clock for his retirement?

(an alarm clock... set to go off at the start of the next every transfer window...)

I see Chiriches as competition to Walker - plays at times for his country in that position. If he can show composure & skill & abilty to cross, he could be good replacement/upgrade/competition for Walker

As he doesn't need upgrading that's unlikely. Right back is the one position AVB has left alone for 3 windows being as we have one of the top 3 right-backs in the Premier League.
