I just hope this 'special relationship' that we allegedly had with Real will finally be well and truly kicked into touch.

What exactly have we gained from this special relationship? Hopefully this special relationship extends to not strengthening our rivals after keep taking our best players!

SO, what have i missed?

When i was last here, Bale (Via Jim White) was never going to Return to Spurs again.
And now it appears he has gone?

Has he gone? (can't be arsed going through all the vitriol and diatribes)

Good luck at Madrid, Gareth. I really think one more season here would have been better for his development. He will have zero margin for error over there.

What a player, and what an honour that we had him for as long as we did. The money from his transfer can now take our club to the next level, which everyone resorting to abuse should remember. Soldado, Lamela, Paulinho, Capoue, all paid for from Bale. He has helped bring Spurs to a much larger global audience, and leaves a legacy in the fantastic players his sale has afforded us.

Fuck him and fuck Madrid. All I care about is spurs and on that front we have an all round stronger squad than we did last season and we will get a world record fee for a player that does not want to be part of our bright future.

We will come out stronger and we will still sign some very good players to fill this hole that bale has left. The club have handled the whole saga brilliantly in my opinion so we should be proud of what we have and forget those numpties that think the grass is greener elsewhere.

Has Bale actually handed in a transfer request?

Depends on what you call a transfer request. I would think yes. Most sources point to Bale making it clear he would like to leave. That is a request to transfer in my book.

The dippers kept Suarez because nobody bid over £40,000,000.01 for him. Had someone bid say £60m, he'd have been gone already, make no mistake.

Bale wouldn't have gone for £30, £40, £50m. It was always going to be world record stuff. So not really typical Spurs. Hell a world record bid prized Figo from Barca to Real!

Barca had no choice as Real activated his release clause. I feel a bit for Levy who I am normally quite critical of as this has been a very difficult decision.

We did have a choice though and could have insisted he stayed no matter what. I think in the end though Levy did the numbers and thought next year with only 2 years left on his contract and FFP kicked in we wouldn't be able to get anywhere near that amount. I personally would still not have sold but Levy doesn't think that way and in this situation he's damned if he did and damned if he don't.

I can't help feel though that a little more net investment in previous windows would have seen us firmly overtake Arsenal in their weakest ( and our strongest) period for years.

We can't keep going round the hamster wheel selling our best players and treading water.

Just so hard to take when the squad we have built is coming together nicely. You really have to worry about the inteligence of some players if Bale really could not see the potential in the squad or indeed believed the "now or never" BS coming from Real. That is before you even consider the behaviour and presumably his hope he will retain his loyalty bonus by not asking to be transfer listed.

Just makes me feel sick to my stomach that yet again Real get to do what they want and nobody will be enforcing the rules, but that is hardly suprising when they don't even pay their tax in one of the most debt ridden countries in the EU. The advantages enjoyed by Real are the same in my view as cheating from the tax, tv money, land deals, impunity from any sanctions when tapping players up and the way it appears Uefa favour Spanish clubs.

TBH, i hope he flops massively.

Not because i have anything against him (well i do) just so that these Mother fuckers don't come knocking the next time we have someone of interest (once bitten twice shy an all that)

Last three times now our best player has wanted out, they have all done it the same way.
It is now the blueprint of anyone wanting to leave us against our wishes (100% success) It's easy to say Levy wins again, but does he really...

You ask me, he's only delaying the move even further. If the deal is there to be done, letting it be done smoothly would surely be the better move for an increasingly twitchy Bale/RM? All these shenanigans are going to do is fuck off DL even more. Wait till 11.55 on Monday to fax the papers off Daniel, make the ****s all sweat over it a bit!

I think he meant the kind where GB and his peep forego certain financial clauses/bonuses etc. Considering the money involved and how protracted this has been, something will probably have been worked tbh, official TR or no official TR.

On a wider point, it might not be feasible as the other deals might have been worked out in principle and only need the John Hancocks and be sent off in a matter of minutes but it's only sensible for us to delay this as long as possible. We need to give other clubs as little time as possible to conclude any deals they might have in place off the back of this deal.

So STFU about that, Gareth. That isn't your concern. You sit down and contemplate the realisation of your dream move and let the grown ups get on with things in the meantime.

I don't think we will, especially when FFP comes in. We will continue to be cash rich and most clubs will be unable to spend the money we would demand for our top players. Not many clubs will get a world record offer for their players, since 2000 only 4 clubs have had that happen and all of them paid for by Madrid.

I'm sure he will love being Ronaldo's bitch. Enjoy your lack of free kicks and lack of free role etc.

Can' believe you, Gareth. I though we were all friends. :shifty:
