Honestly, the only English player we should sign IMO would be Baines. Rose isn't going anywhere, just used as back-up. Lennon will probably stay, not sure on Defoe though.

Didn't think I would but kind of do, Don't think it is the English players per se but the fact that this summer is the real dismantling of the 2009-2012 Spurs squad which has been possibly the best Spurs team in my lifetime.

Surely they have to be carefull with regard FFP though, Torres was a massive chunk and they are spending loads again this year.
Go On Mourinho Spend £40m on Rooney, you'll finish in a CL position and then be banned for failling to meet the FFP rulings.

I think it's rapidly degrading. Not in terms of raw quality and talent, because that is probably always going to be constant in a country so consumed by football, but mentality wise it seems to be going the wrong way.
I read an interesting piece on Raheem Sterling and how we declined to make an offer of a few 100K for his services before he went to Liverpool, and it said that, although there was no doubting his raw talent, the club felt he does not have the mentality to succeed at the highest level. The latter is obviously up for discussion, as he has done alright for himself at Liverpool, but it's worth mentioning that at his tender age he has been involved with the police more than one time for incidents way more serious than traffic violations, put it that way.
You could say the same for many other young, exciting english prospects. The pursuit of fame, idolization and money rather than self improvement and the drive to succeed at the highest level is probably what is standing in their way.

Conveniently overlooking the 60m we have already spent, the 30m we were about to spend until we got gazumped by Chelsea and the other 30m we are trying on lamela for. Also AVB has said he expects more in and a busy end to the window

Re the ITK about Benoit, just want to say how much his departure will sadden me, he's by far the best left back I've seen at Spurs and while he had his moments, he's been consistently superb since the year we finally qualified for the Champions League. He has been great in both directions for the most part, he had entertained, and he has been honest throughout. Even if he is leaving because he doesn't want to extend (odd thing to discuss when he has three years remaining anyway and is already 29), he will remain one of my favourites and a guy for whom I have the utmost respect. I often here those older than I debate whether he or Knowles has been our greatest left back. The guy has seen off competition from many, he's fought his way back in when he's lost his place or suffered injury, he's been a great professional. Lastly, only cannot underestimate his role in turning Bale into the superstar he has become, their link up from 2012 - 2012 being the best wing understanding in world football.

Not recently - I say give Rose a chance until January! He could become a very decent player with the experience. Taking a holistic view of football in this country id like to see more English players given a chance to really prove themselves! Him, Townsend and Carroll in particular this year from us.
I want Lamela though!
