That was insightful. However I never know AVB wanted to play direct football? I thought it was more possession, patient football?

Read this (lifted from the Capoue thread)

http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/tacticsandanalysis/id/1657?cc=5901

"His Porto side -- which remains a better representation of his favoured footballing style than his efforts with Chelsea or Tottenham thus far -- was a perfect example. Porto had talented midfielders, but they didn't hold onto possession for the sake of it -- they attempted to transfer the ball into the final third as quickly as possible. Porto were relentless, powerful and determined, consistently launching wave after wave of direct, immediate attacks. Opponents were overblown by their sheer force, rather than cut open slowly by their subtlety. "

I kind of feel that while I like Sahko, he's still a work in progress and I don't know if he would fit into the category of "dominating the opposition" quite yet.

Then again, there are very few who such hyperbole could actually be applied and they would all be pretty expensive

I wonder if the intent of the message is that Baldini/AVB see the raw materials to forge that type of player.

Surely the 'dominate' part is the key, maybe a synonym?

Don't think it's as simple as name any strong defender.

The Goat means we're looking for a CB who can dominate the opposition with exceptional technical ability, with great passing, creative mentality and excellent dribbling ability for a CB, similar to Jan Vertonghen (not physically dominate them, why do you think we were looking at Chiriches? ;) )

I can't help but feel all these links to quality players would be a lot more exciting if I knew for certain our forward three for the entire season would definitely include Soldado and Bale.

Goat: "We're looking for a central defender who can dominate the opposition."This sound a bit kinky, are they looking for a deneder who's into BDSM? NO wnder they claimed the matter was "somewhat sensitive."

It's Suarez. He said to Sid Lowe in the Guardian "I would not consider moving to a club outside the Champions League." oh no... that's not the quote I wanted... ere we are: "They (Liverpool) defended me, just like I defended them on the pitch."

So there! I've cracked it. He domineats the opposition and seems to classify himself as a defender. Sorted. Next!

Papadopoulos appearently is supposedly nicknamed 'The terminator'; that's pretty dominating... Also he is a huge physical presence.

Meh, I suck at cryptics
