Any chance Vert will be back by Palace? That would be huge for us. We need at least one proper CB holding the hand of a Livermore if you like.

If not its the blind leading the blind I'm afraid.

You just now Palace away will be points we really rue come the end of the season if we drop some. Fine lines competing for a top 4 spot.

I don't get why everyone is getting so irate about Livermore going in to defence. Now don't get me wrong, if he is converted to cb he needs time to find his feet. But don't right him off just yet, how many players can you name that started in different positions that became immense elsewhere?

Bale, left back converted to left wing (did ok I suppose)
Jamie Carragher, full back to cb (did good - especially for us ;-))
Sir Ledley of King - midfielder to cb (he didn't do too bad)
T. Henry - winger to striker (had his moments)
Judas - striker to cb (good until he joined the scummers down the road)

The list goes on, just some examples. Don't write him off yet.

Listen, people never seem to understand this, the coach (AVB) sees Livermore a lot more than we do! He sees him in training day in and day out! AVB also has a track record of getting the best out of certain individuals (a certain Welshmen comes to mind and to an extent Defoe (for 1st half of season) and Lennon and I believe Walker is improving massively under his guidance)! If AVB believes Livermore's future at the club is as a CB then all we can and SHOULD do is back both AVB and Livermore rather than accepting defeat every time Livermore plays at CB! Players should not be abused for their coach testing them out in a new position (I mean sure I wouldn't argue if Livermore was sold this window, but if AVB rates him then I can only trust his judgement and back the team!) I would still be highly surprised if a new CB wasn't bought in this window, but the abuse on Livermore is unacceptable and the defeatist attitude doesn't help! AVB is building a squad of versatile players, he is only trying to get the best out of Livermore and mould him into a useful squad utility player! To reiterate, the coach knows more than we do and he is in his current position (Manager of THFC) because of his exceptional ability to see potential and ability in players we (mere mortals) don't! We (as supporters of this beautiful club) can only support the manager in what he believes is best for the club and players!
PS just because he had a bad game against Monaco doesn't mean we should just dump him on the transfer list! (besides he's a 23 year old player learning a new position shoved in front of a 50 million rated striker, give him a chance!)
PSS I realise its a long post so I've highlighted the main points! :)

They've said it was only a two week campaign. Now everyone can calm down.

Not sure if already mentioned, but apparently Anzhi have put entire squad up for sale. I suspect AVB will be on the phone fpr Willian!

Do you mean the Veljkovic from our youth set up who was signed as a central midfielder and converted to play centre back?
Oh the irony

What's ironic about that? I said surely he's a better option. Veljkovic has much more game time under his belt of playing centre back in competitive matches. Not saying he's ready for this leap but he understands the position way better than Livermore does. Not sure the need to 'attempt' to call me out.

But seriously there is a chance. But only if he responds well to the treatment.

I predicted that with Jenas and Dempsey gone, Jake was going to become the next Target du Jour. :cautious:

I like Livermore and I could see him being a really good CB if he can learn the position quickly. In a high line, he'd be a good option

Why would they say this after it's been removed?!
Maybe due to the barrage of 'does this mean he's leaving now he's not on the ad?' questions they've probably received since it came down. They'll be releasing a comment about the Twitter pic next.

Willian on the left and Traore to back up Soldado and we'd have the most dynamic attack in the league. (Let me dream!)

We only have 2 centre backs that have played in the last year. We have one who we might not know when he will be fit. There's no way we won't be buying a centre back before the end of the window. It's just so unlikely we won't get any cover in at all.
