So Baldini had no communication with our players when he was employed by England? Did Dawson, Parker, Defoe, Walker, Lennon et al give him the cold shoulder when called-up?

Fair point, but I feel like shit with the remains of a cold and a migrane, and now my nose has started to bleed. So I am going to stick my head in a bucket of whiskey! :inpain:

Bobby Robson didn't know the names of his own players, still made some good signings.

Well I'm here to play the ball and not the man - and in doing so I would like to state that the 'Baldini knows fuck all' sentiment doesn't seem to ring true at this stage. Given that JJ's source appears to be very close to Levy, I find it strange that opinions of Baldini could go down so quickly. If questions like, 'what would be your transfer strategy' weren't asked during an interview stage, I'd be shocked. Therefore, if Baldini then pops up expressing his love for Peter Crouch (no disrespect big man) a week later, thus uncovering how 'limited' his set of targets are, why wouldn't this have been picked up before you hire the man?

Play the ball not the man, play to the whistle, play with yourselves if you want!

I propose a new initiative, a campaign if you will, i'd like to call it RESPECT.

No longer can we tolerate abuse of our ITK, its ruining our off season, the time where being a spurs fan really does feel like going into a mental institution

Now where's Peter Rampetampa?

He's just passing on information he's been given. If you don't like it or don't agree thats up to you.

The problem I have is that journalists from a number of papers seem to pick up on these ITK rumours and make them into stories. Give it a few days and there will be a 'Baldini is clueless' story in the papers. It happened earlier on this year with the criticisms of AVB - seemed to be a strong correlation between ITK and Daily Mirror stories

JJ very obviously gets good info and is a fan, I don't see any reason for him to lie, he's only passing on what he's hearing and it will most likely be slightly flavoured with his and his source's own opinion(s).

Baldini may very well not be the messiah, if he's the DoF we'll find out soon enough. To be honest there's not too many in the Roma side he brought in I'm particularly amazed with. At the end of the day, I'm sure the board will still be consulted for targets etc. anyway. I'm just hoping he's not Comolli Mk.II. Time will tell.

Also, as diddery as he seems, David Pleat knows his football, he might not be able to say their name properly, but he knows a player when he sees one alright. I like Pleaty, if you can decipher him, he will impart great wisdom.

Seems pretty likely that there was an initial meeting with Baldini and he wasn't particularly well-versed with the strengths and weaknesses of the squad and what we were looking for this summer, it's probably not a big deal at this point. As said above, let's wait and see what happens over this the summer and the next year.

I'd expect (and indeed we have heard) that AVB and Levy already have a couple lists and Baldini's brief will be "help us get player A, we'd like to pay no more than X, we won't pay more than Y" this summer anyway.

Even if Baldini's only role this summer was shifting our deadwood, that'd keep him plenty busy and utilize his contacts within the game perfectly.

Then, throughout the season he can build up a comfort level within the club in regards to what we need.

I agree for all of pleat's wackiness he does know his onions. Speaks in glowing terms about youth set up at club. I thought he made interesting point re Holtby being a disappointment since joining.

36 pages ? seems a busy day for everyone...

It was not Baldini's job to know Spurs players before he got employed. Now that it looks he could be our DOF, I am sure he will get on with the job

Regarding JJ's tweets: I have just had a hell of a day at work. If I had tweeted each event as they came up, through the lens of wanting to keep people up to date with developments that I have very little control over, taking into account facts that I am aware of but cannot fully disclose, I am not sure that I could do any better.

This is an ITK site: you can choose to believe everything is the the gospel and that our ITK news comes straight from Levy's blackberry or you can picture JJ and the rest as spotty faced kids hunched over a keyboard banging one out and creating a big mess of lies.

Or there's the other option: realise that ITK is one side of a complex story which is subject to change and take it with a pinch of salt, get excited about the nuggets which you like and don't shoot the messenger when you don't want the news you hear. When deals are 100% done, the OS tends to report them. Up until then, all is speculation. Some speculation is better informed than others but I for one would far rather have ITK to raise my hopes and give me an idea of what may be in the pipeline than simply sit here waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

Without people posting ITK, we have nothing to discuss and are completely in the dark. I hope the noises we keep hearing are right: we are looking at genuinely exciting players and there is a desire to do business to make the team thrilling to watch next year. The general consensus seems to be that the shortcomings we have moaned about in the past are being addressed. Great. I know that we will probably bid for some players and miss out but that we will secure others. None of that will be JJ's or anyone else posting on this site's fault. Blame Chelsea. blame the Russian oligarchs. Blame Sepp Blatter. Blame a system that allows a teenager with a talent to demand gold-plated bog paper because they can kick a ball into a skip. Don't blame someone who is trying to pass on info in good faith.

I am sorry but if JJ really did get to see a tx sent by DL himself he would not post that on twitter, this smells fishy..

And, if Levy caught wind of it, it'd narrow down who is feeding JJ the information that ends up on Twitter.

If he's privvy to the info it's up to him whether he posts it and up to you whether you believe it.
