Fair enough you don't get to chose (although I doubt every tweet from JJ is posted in the RO), but get off his back - I think we have the right to come on here and say that we think his 'ITK' is bullshit.

If you want me to be more precise on why, then:

Disagree that there's nothing in Bernard, it is VERY rare that there is this amount of press about a player we're interested and there is 'nothing' in it - it might be we've moved on or the price is too high or the deal too complicated, but he doesn't say that. As for the swede scout numpty bit, that's just total opinion and frankly makes JJ look foolish, which is why there is criticism on here IMO.

There are only two possible meaning for this IMO:

1.) Baldini doesn't have a clue about whether the players we want to bring in are any good or not and in JJ's sources' eyes these players being suggested aren't good (for whatever reason).

2.) Baldini doesn't have a clue about our current set of players.

Either way I highly doubt either of these two statements are true as with statement 1.) Baldini has a lot of past success in this area and frankly it could well be that he's been bought in to get some tricky deals done for us rather than be a head scout (i.e. like what happened with Oscar and to an extent Moutinho last summer).

With statement 2.) i should think that's fair enough given that the guy isn't officially working for us right now and again hasn't been bought in to assess the state of the first team (one would think) but rather to push the club forward.

This could actually be true.

What delay to the stadium?

My bad. They only have switched something around with the design team. It looks like the assumption that it would lead to delays was wrong as work still seems to be happening. Apologies for any confusion.

Why do they do it every year?

The vibe I'm getting is all about progression, signings, statements and investment.

Probably be concluded on deadline day with the signings of Barry and Ince but right now its all about ambition

You only get 140 characters on twitter though, it's very difficult to write war and peace. I had to be very creative when ****ing off Stuart Pearce earlier.

For this reason, 'nothing' in Bernard at the moment can simply mean 'there's no further movement'.

It would be alot easier for Pottle. #blueandyellow

or thirdly...baldini is not responsible/has no clue who we are trying to sign?

If you look at Baldinis history at the players he brought through at Roma, you will get the idea that JJ's contact either clearly knows fuck all about football or is a case of sour grapes.
Even JJ hints at his own doubts tbf, after the whole "AVB is a fraud" codswallop.

Hopefully the people feeding this info to him, don't have major influences on the players or staff we sign and just privy to info, otherwise that is worrying if they do.

Wasn't who I had in mind.

I doubt the mods want us to openly guess JJ's sources though I do think it's probably necessary to understand what motives a certain source may have for saying that AVB is a 'fraud' and that Baldini 'hasn't got a clue about players'.

Quite. JJ mentions that 3 separate sources within the game say the same thing. Which isn't surprising when it comes to the sport of "professional" football. Full of chancers.

Deadwood is I'm guessing who you are referring to.

We have or soon will have:
A very hands-on chairman (Levy)
A technical co-ordinator (Sherwood)
A head coach (AVB)
A technical director (Baldini)

I think they're all alpha males for whom compromise is a dirty word.
There will inevitably be arguments, skirmishes, empire building and politics galore.
Plus, of course, everyone's favourite sleezy uncle David Pleat hovering around. Maybe Pleaty will be the conciliator!

I've just depressed myself.

SO Paulinho eh? Looks good!

They may all be alpha males for whom compromise is a dirty word. but none of them is employed as a technical co-ordinator.
Tim Sherwood is described in the Official Tottenham Hotspur Handbook for 2012-13, which came out in around December 2012, as Head of Football Development. If order of potted biographies counts for anything he is 7th, after AVB, Steffen Freund, Jose Mario Rocha. Luis Martins, Tony Parks and Daniel Sousa. His job description is described as follows: "took on the role of Head of Football Development at the start of this season, having joined us on a full-time coaching basis in April 2010 as Technical Co-ordinator. His responsibilities focus on managing and co-ordinating player development across all our squads, including the supervision and monitoring of loan placements, technical coaching and physical improvement."
It follows from this that he is in no way a technical director in the sense of dealing with the acquisition of players, though he may be on the celebrated but unofficial "transfer committee". His job is to provide future first team stalwarts and develop players even when they are first team squad members but not regulars, like Danny Rose, Tom Carroll, Harry Kane etc, and Naughton and Walker in the past; those players appearing in the first team on occasion, but more often in the under-21's or on loan. it is a player development role. So apart from personality conflicts there should be no reason for TS's nose to be put out of joint by Baldini's arrival.
I accept some ITK's call him DL's right hand man, but frankly I have always taken that with a pinch of salt. I detect an agenda of "bigging up" TS beyond his actual role, for whatever reason. If it is the truth then one wonders why he hasn't been officially promoted again, given Levy's predilection for accurate titles e.g Darren Eales, not Secretary, but "Head of Football Administration", distinguishing him both from the Company Secretary and the Club Secretary, roles filled by different people.

Strewth. After the ITK so far today, if I were a depressive I would be tempted to throw myself out of the window. Fortunately I live in a single storey cottage so all I would end up with is hands and knees being severely grazed on the sharp gravel. So, bollox to that, I'll go and get pissed instead! :hungover:

EDIT: Shouldn't read this thread whilst recovering from a migrane!

If it makes you feel better, my cousin is a Newcastle fan, and they have their 'alleged' DoF conducting his own press conferences about his role to anyone who'll listen, despite the fact the club have yet to confirm or deny any potential appointment.
So on reflection, the news we are getting/not getting, regarding Baldini's involvement/non involvement, suddenly doesn't seem quite as bad does it.
For what it's worth, I read JJ's comment about Baldini having no clue, as the fact he has not actively been involved as yet, or not sufficiently to have any major knowledge over what we have been working on previously.
Secondly, I do wonder of some of these Brazilian press releases are to drum up interest from other clubs, to promote a bidding war. I'd love us to land Paulinho, Bernard and Damaio, but don't really envisage that happening.

His clarification post makes it clear that the vibe coming from more than one person is simply that Baldini is cack. Not that he isn't up to speed at the club etc.

JJ is passing on what he has so no reflection on him but I'm personally filing this snippet away with the "AVB is a fraud" bollox he was given by similar/same sources last yr.

Maybe people's sources change or the sources become less informed.
This time last year we were in the thrall of Akqayid, prior to that others.
At some point it was generally considered that they had good sources; hence the ITK badge, but things do change in the course of time.

Now if we could only get hold of the London Portuguese branch of the Women's Institute: the 'Instituto da Mulher', we could get the in through Andre's missus, maybe. ;)
