I don't see how any manager, let alone a new one, could be expected to do well without his 3 first choice CMs and only one striker who isn't suited to the role.

But of course our fans will jump on AVB's back as soon as we lose a game. Which is completely unfair. The blame so far has to fall on Levy and whoever is making our transfers at the moment.

Should we just sign any striker then?

I just don't understand people's thinking. If there are only a select number of targets who cannot be bought - what then? The fans'll be unhappy because we would have signed Julian Joachim?

Is it Levy's fault that City pay Ade £170k a week - a figure we can't match?

Is it Levy's fault if Inter won't sell us Damiao for a price?

Is it Levy's fault that Madrid won't pay up for Modric?

I mean the man can't win!!

Should have kept Redknapp if we're not gonna overhaul the squad and give Avb the money he needs to compete.

Not aimed specifically at you Col, but here it is again. 'Its not anything new'.................But when POTL says Blue and fucking Yellow jism starts being shot all over the place.

Anyway, I sort of disagree that it isn't anything new.................It might be something new for all we know, 'Modric looks like going' could be an indication that things are moving. It might not be. It could be this, it could be that............Who knows? Not me that's for sure. At least it is something. Something is better than nothing. Unless we sign Rasiak as our striker.............;)

I'm not sure what else ITK's have to do to satisfy people? Post the exact hour of the exact day that the contract will be signed along with details on bonuses, add-ons and clauses as well as a brief critique on how the player is dressed and maybe a sneaky review of the Michelin starred restaurant he was wined and dined in.

I take your point, I was just pre-empting the "exciting times coming" by contrast POTL's "breakthrough" does sound like progress.

I don't/won't knock any ITK as I believe its what we all crave whether its good or bad news.

Can we overhaul the squad if no-one's buying?

Can we get people in if we don't have the money to spend?

We've got to have money in the left hand to spend it with the right hand, no?

this itk palava its more like the wacky races, everyone vyeing for pole position ....
buts wats surprising is that in any aspect of life preparation is always a key factor, and we as a club have had sooo long to look at the factors facing us and stil have left everything till last minute, and have done so for many years,
personally i cant beleive our gareth wud sign an improved contract knowing modric is gona leeve , unless our gareth is indeed itk
and is well aware of our intentions in the transfer market.
as for valencia friendly,
its oh so clear we do need a long tern keeper solution!
creativity in midfield!
and wide player options, if lennon and bale cant unpick the lock then an alternative is clearly needed, erm junior hoillet/ mosses/maybe its the ghana boy from porto? we looking at or closer to home townsend is a very lively option, he thinks he can score and create things, wereas in my opinon lennon doesnt look dangerous, he can be a treat but he looks (as we call it in our sunday league )like a kitten
and ohh dont lets get started on our forwards ooops shal i re-phrase our forward
tiny temper..lool, i do like jermain but he has lost that spark that first made me take him seriosly as a striker,
we need a 2012 model with all the mod cons, ohhh shoot we need a second vehicle of scoring too and erm mayb a run around for local journeys.....
i think the management have planned for early disapointment , they posibly expect to drop points in the early games, and hope to get players in by end of window,
but even if its so players will need time to gel and get up to full fitness,
erm did i mention preperation is the key!

This reinforcement should not be Rafael Moura, Fluminense. The leader virtually ruled out the player, considered "expensive" in order that the club want to just sell the Rio player. However, Inter holds talks with "three or four names." Serie A players are the Brasileirão. The club rule out seeking athletes Series B.

- If it is to bring the Series B, apostaremos base - he added.

In the goalless draw against Nautico Diego Forlan acted alone in front. The striker himself says he is not exactly a replacement for Damian.

- Damien plays The more centralized. I can not act like it. Play it my way - said Forlan in training.

In the coming days, Inter will finally announce this strengthening. The relentless pursuit of the claims made in the Brasileirão.

I think Forlan will be the replacement for Leandro and that they will go for Ganso to replace Oscar with the money they get from Selling Leandro

Thats poor planning then if we weren't gonna dip into our own pockets. Had to know a Modric transfer wasn't gonna be easy.

I think this to be my biggest issue with Levy ....... not seemingly having a plan b and knowing when to move on, there are other strikers apart from Adebayor/Damiao and Julian Joachim, I assume thats why we have an extensive scouting network.
If you have gourmet tastes and a fish and chips budget you are going to end up eventually eating where you can afford a wise man realises that before he starves ....... or you stop naffing around trying to get the gourmet meal on the cheap and pay the asking price

Mate it's negligence if we have sold off Keane, Pav and Crouch leaving us just Defoe (Kane's a kid still) and not left any of that money aside to replace them this window.

Well according to JJ Levy's brinkmanship has cost us some quality transfer targets so far, is that Levy's fault? Make of that what you will but I believe yes it is his fault! Sometimes he needs to take a gamble and go that extra mile to sign us the world class striker that could take us to the next level. Trying to get the best deal for every transfer by stalling, delaying and haggling for every penny is costing us. Thats my opionion anyway.

I feel a lot calmer about our transfer activity at the moment. I think it's because I've realised that Levy and co are taking as much time as is currently available to ensure that our forward line will be in great shape not just for Newcastle, not just for next season, but for the foreseeable future.

Well...either that or I rohypnoled the wrong drink.

Thanks for that. I had to Google that. Like to pick it apart?

Nah, waste of energy. We'll just be going round in circles. You're like a solitary fireman in a burning village attempting to quell the raging inferno with a small bucket of water.
