I was going to pass on the pre-season games in NYC and Baltimore and use my money for a game in London in October.....but now I'm wondering.....

Are we trying to sign the collection of longest names in a window? Adebayor, sigurdsson and vertonghen all pretty long names.

Think he does deserve a chance to be honest. The club don't really have a lot to lose to at least keep him around a bit longer to see what he can do under a new management? If he can fill a hole or be a backup for injuries/absence - great in my opinion :)

Probably not a popular view amongst the people here though!

It's all about squeaking an extra few quid out of the fans...£1 per letter!! expect D'Allessandro, Bilyaletdinov and Jan Venegoor of Hesselink through the door anytime soon...

I think someone at the club has interpreted the notion of making 'big name' signings too literally.

He needs to earn a chance, then he will be deserving of one surely? He doesn't 'deserve' a chance anymore than Bentley or Jenas.

If he does the business then we will all be happy but he needs to knuckle down and prove himself. Work hard on the training pitch and skip the night clubs!

I think more than half of the problem with Gio was Harry refusing to play him. He's been pretty decent for Mexico whenever I've seen him and apparently was pretty good on loan in Spain. But Harry decided he was a 'playa' rather than a player, and once you get in Harry's bad books, you stand little chance of getting back in.

We're not exactly going to be surrounded by offers at a decent price so there's no harm in throwing GDS into the mix for six months and seeing what he can do. If he fails, we can always get rid of him in January but it's a lot of talent to just throw away.

I think every one of our fringe players now has a clean slate and an opportunity to earn themselves a chance of redemption. Pre-season could be quite interesting that's for sure.
