Yep, just the trendy choice. That's why I, and many others, have rated him for a couple of years or more.

I don't have anything against those other guys, but just saying anyone who think Martinez would be a good choice has lost the plot is way too far and only illustrates how little we should consider your opinion.

Moyes was criticised by Everton fans alot last season especially in the semi final after going negative once they got the one goal lead and tbh Liverpool were for the taking but he allowed them to get back in to it

He plays like that because he has to. With a squad like ours he'd be offensive, you'd be a fool not to.

Fair enough, I'm not usually so sweeping and dismissive, but this particular one seems to have got my blood up. I'd be interested to know why you have rated him for a couple of years. He looked decent at Swansea, is a nice guy, tries to play nice football, but I simply cannot see how he would be people's favoured choice. There is no evidence at all to suggest that he is the person to move us on at this point..

I think he is being propelled due to a very worrying lack of other options that would properly enthuse. What we need to bear in mind is that we have finished in the top four twice out of three seasons and have been winning big games against the likes of City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Milan, Inter etc etc, we aren't hovering in mid table and looking to speculate on a, well, a very speculative choice at best.

personally if our main choices were martinez and moyes, i would rather stick with HR, i think we need to look a lot further a field for a more suitable replacement than those two tbh, but that is my personal opinion

Really don't want Martinez! His stock is high at the moment thanks to Wigans final 6/7 games of the season! People seem to have forgotten how awful they were for the first 30 odd games of the season!

Awful? No. Did they make defensive mistakes while trying to play good football? Yes. Took some players a while to cut out the tiki taka passes from defence every time.

He seems to be the opposite of Harry in many ways. He is really focused on tactics, even though with a shit team like wigan the negative, anti-football, game is often most effective. He manages to bring a free flowing, attacking style to them anyway. While the success isn't overwhelming, just compare them to the rest of the teams at the foot of the table. They are a lot more positive and are a greater threat to the larger clubs (like last season where they took a few big scalps).

A couple of other things that aren't "in-game", but more off the pitch or longterm:

-He isn't afraid to change his lineup from time to time unlike H
-To some extent related to this...his teams don't just collapse at the end of a long campaign, which has become our calling card. Wigan had a really incredible form late last season, easily top half.
-He handles himself really well in the media and public spotlight. Very well spoken, keeps himself in line, and is likeable without being manipulative.

Some of the people watching in the US or on streams from the US will have also seen some of his punditry in the last few years. He comes off brilliantly every time. My favorite pundit by far.

ahh the old bad signings were obviously shit and good signings were obvious to everyone route
No that is very much not it, I'm just saying he has signed average players in his time there, Moses being probably the only exception.

I understand what you are saying but in that match he was more attacking in the first half and then replaced a winger with a RB/RM

He could use it as a bargaining chip with levy in negotiations though, fob him off about Chelsea sniffing around in an attempt to force Levy's hand

Qatar is the only card he seems to have left in negotiations

Yes, because Levy is really, really thick, isn't he?
