There are people like Dan and people like Blockbuster. And they have every right to their beliefs. I think most of us fall in between but, regardless of where you sit on this fence, none of want this to become explosive and drag the club into some dark mire of misery. I am worried that these comments, or the timing of them, might have done just that. Hopefully, I am wrong, but I am worried that this summer just became bad.

Agree, we need a swift and definitive resolution to this. I really do feel its a good time to part ways with Harry now.

Nowadays the two sort of go hand in hand, but I guess this transfer window will tell.

My imagination was certainly not stirred by Ryan Nelsen or Louis Saha, that's for sure! :)

My imagination was stirred by the signing of Modric, wasn't yours?

Using the media to force Levy's hand....shocker. Banging on about how its no good for the players to know that he's entering the final year of his contract, yet when he was on the cusp of leaving for the England job it didn't matter.

Correct me if I'm wrong but did he not say, several weeks back, that players don't care who the manager is...or something to that effect.

Selective in the extreme, its so predictable now.

Sorry, only just read the full quotes....he didn't actually say that, he's just comparing the last year of a contract to that of players....but still....

I rate you Mr Pink, but the same goes whenever there is something that gets highlighted from 'rent-a-quote' Redknapp. I don't understand why people just dive in without waiting for the full context.

He also said he has as good a relationship with Levy as he's had with any chairman he's ever worked with, unsurprisingly nobody has even mentioned that.

Is it merely down to the length of contract that Harry demands that is the main sticking point or has there effectively been no offer from the Spurs board since the England fiasco?

It sounds like there's been an extension offered but only a year or so and at his current wage while Harry wants a longer extension and probably a raise. I think any extension at this point seems foolish because Harry would almost certainly be fired if we have have a bad start to the season or have a another 2nd half fall-off and it would just tie Levy's hands in having to pay off the rest of the contract. If he did well, it could be extended in January or next year.

For Spurs, the only major benefit of tying him down to a longer contract (assuming Levy doesn't want to keep him around more than year or two anyway) is to get a larger payoff if someone came in for him, but at his age and with England off the table, that seems unlikely. It was probably a factor, however, when the originally extension offer was made in January, knowing that England would likely come calling after the Euros.

Doesn't have to be though. With one year left on his contract, even a full pay off (which it won't be) would only cost us £3.8m.

With AVB, van Gaal and Capello all currently unattached (and Martinez and de Boer relatively) cheap, the whole thing could be sorted over night.

Have I missed something? What does this Cambridge nonsense have to do with ITK?

Nothing. It's just a place. A place where all the inhabitants deserve to get fucked, and all those in the surrounding areas. None are exempt. NONE. o_O

Seriously, though. I don't know.

Especially when castigating DL for not backing H in the transfer market.

Let's leave the lunatic fringe to their usual thing. H is like marmite to some. He's got pros and cons to most and this is where many disagree. Some think his pros outweigh his cons and vice versa.

I just want JV to bloody sign already. Get that done I can relax a bit and move on from my suspciion that this summer will be exactly like the previous 2. Possibly a last minute wonder signing (VDV) but most likely not (crickets).

Why would we give him a raise when he's currently the 10th highest paid manager in the world? He's certainly not the 10th best! He earns the same as Ferguson and Wenger FFS.

Vertonghen is at the Radisson Edwardian at Heathrow, watching porn and bashing one out. The 'under the radar' player is sitting inside a cannabis cafe in Amsterdam called 'Amnesia' toking on some Pineapple Haze.
Pineapple Haze? Used to be good old Purple Haze or Cali Orange in my day. Bloody yoof of today, no sense of tradition.

I just don't understand why you are all getting so uptight about this interview. He was asked a question about his future and he denied there were any relationship problems with Levy and that, as he was an employee, it was up to management to decide if they wanted to extend his contract. All perfectly reasonable comments. Just give the man a break he's the best manager we've had since we were in the PL.

To be totally honest mate, I didn't really know much about him when he signed. The club record fee suggested that he'd be decent though.

Plus, that was four years ago and to me it seems as though a lot has changed. Would a player worth 16.5m now be willing to accept wages within our structure? That's not meant as a particularly weighted question, I just would be interested to know if there is someone out there who has contacts in the world of football.

I obviously hope they would, but I suspect that clubs like City, Chelsea, Malaga and PSG have skewed the demands of highly rated in-demand talent somewhat since we signed Modric.

Got 5 and a bit hours for Brownhead's reputation to live or die.

I'm waiting for the obligatory 'don't we have to wait for the stock market to open as its over 10% of turnover' question (which was never the case and certainly not now that we are no longer a PLC).
