Joe Cole to replace Bentley. Berbatov (don't care if his return upsets people) to replace Pav and a strong fast striker to compete with Defoe. I'd consider Babel, as I can't think of many relaistic options.

Also sell Keane, O'Hara and Hutton.

Personally I'd rather sign no one than him

GK: Gomes Cudicini K.SCHMEICHEL
RB: G.JOHNSON Corluka Kaboul
CB: King Dawson KJAER Woodgate Bassong
LB: Bale Assou-Ekotto
RM: Lennon A.YOUNG
DM: Sandro Huddlestone
CM: DIARRAPalacios
LM: Modric BELLAMY Kranjcar
CF: SUAREZ Defoe
CF: DZEKO Pavlyuchenko

I like that. Though I'd prefer us to use the money for Diarra and Bellamy and sign Yoann Gourcuff, and Richards for Johnson (too expensive)

btw, Sandro is not even close to be ready to be a starter. That's why I'd prefer a Palacios-Gourcuff partnership

Bubble, good players, but do you really want 8 players into a side that is the best we've had for 20 years? I dont.

One of the strikers (two if you count Keane) will leave, I personally think (it's not what I want, but what I think Harry wants) it will be Pav, and that a top No 9 will come in. Let's say Dzeko for now, but someone along those lines.

In midfield, we need one more. I think we'll want 5 central midfielders for next season (incl. Modric). With O'Hara and Jenas likely to leave, Diarra would be perfect.

We need back-up for Lennon. Young is not back-up. Modric, Bale and Kranjcar can all do a brilliant job at LM, we do not need Bellamy.

I don't think we should buy another RB either, but I guess I would take Johnson every day of the week, Richards as well (though I think Kaboul is our Richards and almost as good). IF we bring in another CB it should be a young guy behind Bassong in the pecking order.

We need a back-up goalie. I dont care who he is.

I cant believe I'm sceptical to Young and Richards and saying no to two top strikers and Bellamy, but I DONT WANT BIG CHANGES. I want the extra top notch improvement, and that could take us to the next level..

Ashley Young would be a key signing for us. We need a quick player who can play on the left and can come in and replace lennon if lennon gets injured or loses form. Ashley Young is ideal for this

I am very happy with Corluka like many on here but seeing Bale bomb on down the left makes me wonder how good it would be to have someone bomb down the right and Johnson is ideal for that

Regarding our CB situation. If Woodgate can prove his fitness we do not need another centre back but if he can't I would like another in and Kjaer would be class addition

Personally I think Young has got found out this season, he's had a far quieter year than the one before because fullbacks know what he is going to do - feint to go outside, come back in on his left and put in the inswinger to Carew. It is still effective, but good players have shut him down.

He needs to expand his game, just like Lennon has done this year. For the price Villa would demand (£20m +) I think we should look elsewhere.

In the first post of this thread I suggested upgrading on BAE, I'm not dismissing him but let me expand a bit on why i suggested it.

BAE has had some very good games for us this season and scored a very good goal. However his crossing and long range passing are inconsistent, he often takes risks in dangerous positions a-la Atouba and he has also been carded several times when he needn't have been for silly, petulant fouls. We've also seen Arry take him off a few times this season for exactly the reasons I've just mentioned.

There's also the matter of him being a self confessed mercenary.

As I've already said, I'm not knocking BAE - if he's still with us next season I'll be totally happy - but considering we'll be in a position to attract a better class of player I feel it might be worth upgrading if possible.
He's stuck in some sweet crosses mate.. On a number of occasions. He's been solid defensively and attacking for the 99% of his pitch time.

While I respect your opinion, I think it's harsh and unjust.

Besides, name one LB that is better that we can attract?

Personally, I'd only swap for Evra or Lahm.. Neither of which we have a chance with. Cashley is bloody good too, but wouldn't want him even if he was available and on his knees begging.

We now have a BIG opportunity to take PROVEN prem players off the rest. The only foreign player I would take at the mo is Dzeko because we need a front man like him.

But back to the point and we have a big chance to take a player like Arteta, Young, Milner etc. I know they will be way over-priced but I reckon the players would be very interested in joining our project. I was gonna say rodwell but everton prob wont sell arteta anyway. Milner? Why not? 20-25m is a lot IF we want him.

We got a big chance to sign some decent players now, and we might not get it again. So gotta choose our targets wisely.

Steven Ireland would be decent with this talk about him wanting out, but he is suspect with his personal life and also sosunds like a money-grabber.

I like the rumors about Pienaar. Quality player with 12 months worth of contract left (or so I think?). If we are looking to offload Bentley I'd say that's a brilliant replacement.

To think you could possibly get Joe Cole, Pienaar and Ireland for around £15m of transfer fees is quite something. Obviously would cost a lot more in wage terms, but three quality players.

There's a few we COULD get rid of, but at the same time we're going to be playing a lot of games next season.

If Gio and Taarabt decide to have the right attitude, there is room for them at the club next season. However, if they're not happy to fight for their places, get rid.

Woodgate, I'm reliably informed will not play again. I can't and won't reveal my source on here, but happy to verify it, so he'll need replacing.

Sales wise I'd let Keane and Jenas go for sure, for the money we'd get for them I think we could get upgrades. O'Hara as much as I like the lad, has a lot of competition in front of him and may want to go with Sandro coming in. Hutton should go as well and bring in another RB as serious competition for Corluka.

I think we still need to be very careful who we bring it, we'll need to get a mix of experience from home and abroad.

Prem wise, I think if we signed Joe Cole and Stephen Ireland we'd have enough options in midfield.

I think I remember seeing somewhere we have the option to loan Gudjohnson for another season, I'd like to see us excercise that.

As much as I admire Pavlyuchenko for his efforts, I think if we got £10-£15m for him we should let him go and bring in a striking glamour signing using the Keane sales money as well.

We'll need backup full-backs to provide some healthy competiton as well.

So, in summary:

IN: J.Cole, S.Ireland, ST, RB, CB, LB
OUT: Jenas, O'Hara, Keane, Hutton, Pavlyuchenko, Woodgate (retired)

Martin Petrov ,

The guy is an absolute monster when he plays . Experienced , versatile and just as quick as Bellamy .

If Man U aren't going in for Milner as is being speculated then I'd much rather have him than Young. He can play all over the midfield, is a rather complete player, and what suit 4-4-2 or 4-5-1.

I think the first thing to remeber is that BAE is clearly our second choice LB now behind Bale and that Bale has been played as a LW because of the injury to Kranjcar.

Myself, I quite like Lazios Kolarov, but whether he'd be much better than BAE is a moot point and I'm not sure he'd want to play second-fiddle to Bale. It might also piss off our Croat contingent bringing in a Serb.

I also wonder, given Arry has subbed BAE a few times this season if he'd go after Belhadj as a replacement.

Fact is, our current players are next season going to have been together for an extra year (and therefore even more in tune), have a year more experience under their belts (including many high pressure games that we've had this season) and are already extremely good players. There are no gaping holes in our side, or even our squad, just the odd scuff that needs a bit of a polish.

For me it's just about a big striker who can play and make others play as well, and shipping out a bit of the deadwood. If we get rid of Jenas, Keane, Hutton, O'Hara (good players but lets face it, excess to the squad) and also Taarabt and Giovani, we'll have a minimum of 25m I'd imagine. A young backup for Ekotto (I fully consider Bale to be a winger now) and a reserve for Gomes (Button seems ready to be promoted to number 3) would do me fine for squad work, and have one huge outlay on that aforementioned type striker and we're sorted. As Joey said, I'd definitely take back Berbatov, and if not him, then someone like him.

I wouldn't keep Eidur. Pav, Defoe, Crouch and that new playmaking target man would be more than enough and I, odd flash of brilliance aside, find Eidur a bit too much of a passenger.

GK: Gomes K.SCHMEICHEL
RB: M.RICHARDS Corluka
CB: King Dawson kaboul Bassong
LB: Bale Assou-Ekotto
RM: LennonBentley
DM: Sandro Huddlestone
CM: DIARRA Palacios
LM: Modric Kranjcar
CF: GUDJOHNSEN Defoe
CF: DZEKO Crouch

Sell:- Buy:-
Taarabt- 2mill K.SCHMEICHEL - FREE
Gio- 4mill M.RICHARDS 8 mill
Hutton- 5/6mill DIARRA 13mill
Keane- 8/9mill GUDJOHNSEN 1.5mill
Pav- 10/11mill DZEKO 20 mill
Jenas- 7/8mill
O'hara- 5mill

Schmeichel - Young, Good pedigree and highly rated. Would cost nothing, as out of contract.

Richards IMO, is a key signing, i really believe he would become an excellent aquisition if Harry can manage him right, he has everything to prove after going off the boil after initially bursting onto the scene. Can also fill 2 positions which would become useful especially during a long season and fits the EU law about home grown players.

Diarra would complement any of the current midfielders, with more licence to get forward if paired with wilson, if not then ideal as a holding midfield berth. Harry knows what he's all about and now could be the time to make the move.

Gudjohnson - Experience and class. Used to dictate play and unlock the busses that get parked at the lane from the smaller clubs.

Dzeko - The jizz in the pants signing...In my eyes, world class, but could we persuade him to sign over interest from some of europes more attractable clubs? If not i think Balotelli could become world class with the right manager.

Discuss....

if BAE can play to near that level of last night on a consistent basis(i would never expect anyone to consistently play at the brilliant level he showed last night) i'd be well happy with him

i thought he'd be our weak link, assuming gomes was fit, BAE was fantastic - never once looked like giving away a pen

maybe he's getting the hang of this defending game

maybe he took his headphones off long enough to hear harry say this was an important game - who knows

I'd like us to take at least 7 points from 12 away against Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, this is an area we definitely need to improve on next year. We need to be more ruffless infront of goal, more goals from midfield, although i'm pleased with the fact we've had goals from 19 different players but if we hadn't spread them about like that we'd have been in the brown stuff.
