Hi everyone,
On Saturday 31st October, the day the Emirates hosts the first North London derby of the 09/10 season, the inaugural issue of Two Halves will be available.
Fans of Arsenal and Tottenham will be able to grab a free copy of the limited run at various North London locations. The paper can be read two ways, depending on your allegiance: one way up it’s packed full of Arsenal news and articles; flip it over and it’s got everything a Spurs fan would want to read ahead of the game.
Set to feature contributions from online club fansites like Arseblog, Gunnerblog, and SpursCommunity, the sixteen page newspaper will provide fans with insight, news and opinion on their team, as well as allowing them to peep over the garden fence and see what the other side thinks ahead of the match. It is, after all, a game of Two Halves.
Basically, i have been asked to edit our half of the paper, and am therefore looking for any contributions that our members would be willing to submit. So far from this site already, we have Rob, Bill_Oddie, Stoof and Ladi_100 writing articles, and it would be great to have as many people on board as possible. Harry Hotspur and Chris Miller (the writer of the youth team blog) have also expressed a desire to help out.
After discussing it at great length, we have decided to turn our half into almost a fanzine, with serious and satirical articles about everything to do with the derby. As it is a non-sponsored paper, it will not be censored by anyone so articles can be as candid as possible, although i would obviously encourage people to avoid swearing.
So far, we have articles about the rivalry, the last year at Spurs, a profile of 5 derby stars of the future, Arsenal fans in general (the articles do not have to be neutral) as well as a fans goal-by-goal reaction to the 4-4 game last year. We are also looking for some illustrations/cartoons, so if anyone is a budding artist/good with photoshop, then it would be great to have your contributions. Some of the film photos are unbelievable on here, so if some anyone wants to knock a few up that relate to the derby then that would be awesome.
If anyone fancies submitting an article, either drop me a PM or post your interest on this thread, as well as any questions people might have.
We are also looking for little sentences relating to the derby that we can put around the edges of the pages, for example:-
-Did you know...
-On this day....
-Famous derby commentary
-Derby heroes
Lastly, a map is going to be drawn of the stadium and we are looking for fans famous landmarks around WHL, for example people's favourite pub, best kebab, a newsagents that has a fanatical Spurs fan working there etc-any suggestions would be great.
Ultimately, we are looking to produce something for the fans, by the fans, and the more contribtions we can receive the better. There is a designer for each half of the paper, one a Spurs fan, one a gooner, who are both competing to make their halves better, so it would be great if we could support their graphical expertise with some brilliant text.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear from you soon
Adam
