If we get him his versatility will be great.

In your opinion, how do you see us using him though, primarily?
It's difficult to say. He was the name I'd heard we were looking at if a certain player left, so the possible 3rd player I'd mentioned. Not sure that's a goer right now, so have no idea if Carrasco is even still being looked at.

As you say he's quite versatile so that could have a bearing on things.

Would still like a HG player in though so things could still land anywhere tbh.

Interesting stats. I’m probably being thick but isn’t Moura our Deki rotation? And Carrasco will be our Son and Richy our Kane?

That may be the case but if it is we are screwed if Deki gets injured.

But even if Lucas doesn’t end up coming in and dropping our levels massively, what will likely happen is Carrasco or Richarlison will get used ahead of Lucas on the right and will be out of position which will unbalance the side and lead to a drop in levels.

We need Deki cover and rotation more than anything else in attack because if he’s out we are in trouble imo.

Is he good? Or is he just not Daniel James ?

The biggest testament I can give is he has always been in my fantasy teams when it came to World Cups and Euros - because he is productive. He creates. Not always the best finisher but he is pacey and creates.

That is proper gospel..

Richarlison seems to be a direct option for son or Kane. Wouldn’t make sense to pigeon hole him only for Kane.

Oh boy imagine if we could Carrasco for RWB and Zaha in at shithousing the last 20 mins of every game ?

I know everyone is getting excited but I just don’t get where he fits for us. He’s primarily a right footed left winger or wing back. Not what we need at all.

Big name from a big club = hype

If you break this down logically then as you say it makes no sense and doesn’t offer us the balance we need.

I wonder if a move for Carrasco is now potentially happening because of an 'unexpected' out which I believe @Trix alluded to - so looking squarely at someone like Doherty who wouldn't necessarily have been on our list to leave.

In any case, Carrasco is a quality player, proven pedigree and winners mentality - much like Perisic whilst also offering flexibility in what will be a demanding season ahead.

All for this!
Doherty is homegrown. If we were already looking for HG I'd have to imagine it's less likely we'd allow an additional HG player to leave. That said, if other players we bring in our HG it wouldn't matter (just limits our options for those positions).

I forgot his random years in China. Does anyone understand the reasoning behind them (except money)?

He can play left and right and can play right wing to cover for Kulu if required. And he is better than all our RwB’s. Why say no?

He doesn’t really play at RWB though? It’s like saying Perisic can play there. Yes he could do a job but it’s not where he has done his best work throughout his career.

If anyone wants to take a look at him, he plays today against Valencia. Or does he? :sneaky:

Game is on at 9 on Premier Sport 1.

Question from an older person - I just went on Twitter & Reddit & a lot of the kids are saying “Bomba” followed by a random amount of exclamation marks. What does bomba mean?

Doherty isn't homegrown though.

Really looking forward to the frothing berserker rage in match threads when we sign Carrasco and then Royal continues to start at RWB for the next several games.

I agree - sort of.

I could see him coming into play for Son on the left, with Richarlison being used more on the right. And, yes, I know Richy is primarily been used on the left, or center. But, I could see the allure of Richy coming in from the right to get on to some crosses from Perisic or Carrasco playing from the left.
