i think berba can give us 1 more year.......he can leave when he is 28...still enough time to achieve what he wants to achieve.

NO, but if we are honest with ourselves he is too good for us at the moment. Will he have the patients for the rest of the team to reach his level..... I doubt it. I love the guy as much as the next man and gotta say he is probably the best ALLROUND striker I have ever seen with my own eyes but the fact is UEFA cup footy will I feel be not be good enough for his next season. Lets enjoy the magician at work for the next 10 games as it may well be our last opps to see him in the lillywhite shirt.

Viva Berbatov!!!

Yup, good post, agree with this. I posted in another thread about the goal he scored midweek and this goes for other goals too that I'm not sure we have anyone else in our squad, perhaps Keane, who is consistently able to get into the right positions to score those goals. And then secondly, to execute the finishes. This makes him stand out above all the rest of the players that we have. The guy is world class. It would be a massive blow to lose him, worse than losing Carrick. I trust in Ramos to spend the money wisely, and get in some other top quality players, but hopefully it won't come to that. With a bit of luck, this time next year, we're closing in on that 4th spot and this won't be an issue.

But Ramos moving him deep to link play with Bent up front when he came on against PSV might possibly frustrate him.

It sure frustrated me.

I think the recent comments Berba made and Ramos are very possetive on him staying, however if he was to leave he has to leave to another team not in the EPL

We are suppose to be an ambitious club striving for the top. If "he is too good us" as you put it, wouldnt another solution be to get players around him of his ilk as oppose to letting him go? This would automatically put us on a different level challenging for the top, and not weakening us

Seems like we aren't too sure weather he will or won't leave us this summer. Obviously he should be playing in the CL BUT he already has and has got to the final before with Leverkusen. He surely knows how good Ramos is, also his partnership with Robbie Keane must be a good thing. Only problem really is his age. As he still has 2 years to run on his contract, but being 27 he only really has what 3 years MAX at the top of his game, if we can have those 3 years that'd be wonderful however for him personally he's going to know that and want to really acheive things in his last few years at the top OR has he fallen in love with Tottenham and that winning the Carling cup this year proves we can win things, with Ramos at the helm, he may just stay.

If however he did HAVE to go, and it wasn't to another premierleague team and it was for say 25-30million realisitcally more like 25 then I suppose it'd be dissapointing but if we spent in the right areas i.e GK,CB,CM,LM,ST i.e Cudicini,Jarque,Tiago and Capel and McCarthy? then we may well have a 'complete' squad capeable of CL without Berby anyway.

That's the situation we want to be in. It's Ramos' job to convince Berbatov that he's going to be able to get better players to the club. Without Champions League football it's going to be tougher so it's a bit of a vicious circle at the min. But you are right what you're saying.

This constant question of berbatov going or staying does get on my nerves at times, ok he is world class and it would be great if he stayed but you can see the difference in him this season from the last he enjoyed himself so much more last season. We have had world class players before he came and will have when/if he leaves, i sometimes feel that some people think we will never score again if he leaves. Ramos will pretty much create a new team next season i have faith in what he doing and cant wait for the transfer window to open just to see who is comin and going

Benni McCarthy has scored 10 goals this season, but a lot of them have been from the penalty-spot.

Berbatov. If he would leave it would take me a long time to get over.

I don't think he is leaving this summer, though almost everyone who is even causally interested in football anywhere in the world seems to think so; but on the other hand, it is impossible to say what will happen if Juande does decide to rebuild--though I can't imagine a striker of Berba's quality would not figure in his plans.

I would be sad to see him go, but one man is not a team--I don't care much for this idea of "talismanic" players. If he goes, we will find someone else. Maybe he won't be the same, but I trust Juande. He won't let him go without a plan--the man's a fucking genius.

I felt real pain the times when Greaves and Hoddle left, but life and supporting Spurs have to go on. So while not wanting Berbs to leave, I guess should that sad day come along, hope the club would make the suffering less by signing another great player.

I would be extremly dissapointed if he left in the summer. He should stay for 1 more season and if we can get chamipons league he should see out his contract. If we don't get top 4 then I think he is more then entitled to move to a club that that give him CL football

Of course I'd be unhappy to see him leave BUT if he did, I think it's really important that we have a deal agreed for his replacement BEFORE he goes so

1) We don't get held to ransom on a price for new signings because they know we have the Berbs fee in the bank.

2) New signings deflect the negativity of losing our star player so does not disrupt pre-season too much.

If he does go, I hope it's to a Barca or AC Milan. I'd be gutted if another English Club got him.
