Whatever the motivation nice to see these blood sucking loan groups highlighted, just one step from your neighbourhood loan sharks.

The Wonga/Cisse thing has taken a new twist. Apparently there is a photo of Cisse at a blackjack table. If true then his religious beliefs obviously aren't that strong.

I would argue that the two things are not the same. Religions proscribe a wide variety of things, and the vast majority of religious people pick and choose.

If Cisse is genuine in his reasons for not wanting to wear the shirt with Wonga due to religion then there may be a precedent for him not having to. Unless it has changed very recently Catholic pharmacists can refuse to give out the morning after pill on religious grounds. If they can refuse such an important thing as that then surely then Cisse shouldn't have to wear the shirt? The actaul details may be very different but the pricniple of not having to do something due to religious beliefs is the same is it not?

However by the sounds of it he may be doing it just to kick up a fuss to get a raise as he had no such qualms in the past.

Didn't he wear a virgin money kit last year?

Virgin money is marketed as a bank though which may have not caused him the same moral problems as an out and out money loaning company, Likewise Barclays and Capital one are primarily promoted as banks.

But as others have pointed out earlier he has shown that his following of religious beliefs only seem apparent when he wants them too, the gabling being one big example.

My post wasn't meant to be a defence of Cisse but rather to show that if followed through with his refual to wear the shirt with the sponsorship then there is a legal precedent there which would seem to back him and his rights.

I totally disagree with this. There is a huge problem with payday loans companies. If you want apply this argument than the argument should be that they should charge a flat fee, rather than an extortionate APR, which will continue to rise and cause people issues if they fail to pay it for what ever reason. Even a large late fee is preferential to the extortionately high APR that leads to dangerous financial spirals. This is all before we come to the fact that these companies give loans to pretty much anyone without checks. The whole business is very shady.

They do charge a flat fee it's £1 per day to borrow £10 ie 10% but due to the why apr is calculated its show as 3650%

So it turns out the Church of England have been, indirectly, investing in Wonga...

How long before Joe comes out claiming he's on a mission from god?

So Cisse has now agreed to wear the Wonga branded shirts for the season. Cisse said he was fully behind the team and fans could expect him to give 1759% for the team.

That was funny, especially after the whole 'we're going to put Wonga out of business' from the Archbish.

If the Church is successful in putting Wonga out of business I wonder if they'll stump up the cash so all the people made unemployed by their campaign don't have to rely on the taxpayer to look after them while they find new jobs.

Never going to happen. Wonga is a multi-billion pound business, with annual profits rivalling a small bank.
