Given our performances so far this season it is astonishing we are so few points off of the top.
Hopefully we start playing with some fluidity up top and solidity at the back and our performances improve.

I’m taking positivity from that as we don’t tend to really find our rhythm until Xmas.
Hopefully Eriksen can get fit as we play much better with him in the team plus Dele too. We need to somehow get Rose fit as well.

If that can happen and Aurier hopefully can grab his chance in my opinion we’ll be flying in second half of season. A lot of ifs though and injuries have really hit us hard this season, today we had arguably 5 first teamers missing from side and another in Son who could do.

Any other top 4 side apart from City missing that many aren’t going to be playing great, so it’s impressive we are stilling getting wins - 6pts away at Wolves and West Ham are big wins overall.

C'mon now lads, sure it's the weekend. Something good might happen...stay positive!

We actually won the match...and are ahead of the scum.

Lucky win but they even themselves out and you can’t say we’ve not had our share of shit luck already. However, full backs??? Fuck me, they need changing. We’re so open down the flanks it’s crazy. If anything happens to winks too we’re fucked, need one, possibly 2 cm’s in jan. we’re raggedy ass rovers this season so definitely need some new faces to freshen things up. Think we’ve just gone stale.

Aurier and KWP?

Hopefully you're right and Serge can kick on there. Kyle showed midweek he's not ready, physically if nothing else.

I was thinking more quick fix as we will prioritise buying at full back.

Nah, bruv.

We've gotten through, but we haven't played well this season and Poch's moves have been lacking.
Given the hand he's been dealt, he's been playing a blinder. It doesn't matter how we've been playing, we've got the points on the board. We are slowly clicking into gear. Other teams are playing slicker football, but they're not out of sight. I think both we and ManU will be there at the death.

Poch comments (via @Allygold https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/mauricio-pochettino-press-conference-live-15369266):

Then when we scored the third goal all our thoughts and those in the stadium was that it was 3-0 and it was all over. Then in that moment came the situation and we need to learn. We need to learn that to play seriously is to not make mistakes, don’t concede or give the opponents such a cheap or poor action that they can stay in the game. You know better than me that it is like this and that’s why I’m happy with the three points but disappointed because we are talking about experienced players not younger ones that can learn.

I think there's another important point that needs making about this game. Wolves are a good, well-assembled team playing above themselves, as a result of an inspired manager.

We were playing a newly promoted side. Atypically, at no point during this game did Wolves pack 10-11 men behind the ball, deny space and try to wreck the spectacle. They tried to compete with us at playing football. They deserve major respect for not only trying this, but making it work thus far in the season. I think the last promoted side that managed to stay up with a similar approach was Eddie Howe's Bournemouth. At this stage, Wolves look considerably better than Bournemouth did in their first EPL season.

The game was entertaining because Wolves refused to be negative. Based on tonight's showing, all they lack is a proper striker and a commanding central defender with leadership skills. If they can stay up this season, they ought to be able to afford those, with a bit of canny dealing. They're a big club: if they can stay up once, they should be able to fling a bit of money at consolidating and improving.

It would be the ultimate "Spursy" thing to do would't it...

Go through the whole season playing pretty poorly and actually win the thing :p

Just read up to date from p.28, bloody hell.

Internet issues here all day (satellite b/band) so I gave the thread a miss.

I'll take the win buy Jeepers that was so terrifying and so predictable.

I nearly got sin binned by the Mrs for my delinquent behaviour - bouncing around the chair and hollering at the telly, she remembers the bad old days when I need my GTN spray for my ticker watching games and this one was up there with the worst.

From the sublime to the ridiculous.. An ugly win - I'll take it. God only knows what Tuesday is going to bring.

Those who are correctly criticising Trippier's poor judgment defensively should also bear in mind that his perfect, arching cross found our 5'-8" winger's head in an ocean of space, with such precise momentum that all Lucas had to do to score was to make good contact with it.
It's all in our minds but many just don't buy what you are trying to sell here as it doesn't make up forthe failure in his primary job.

Would you sing the praises of a mechanic that details your car magnificently but fails to torque your head bolts or replace your oil pan bolt? No one gives a shit about his rare crossing assists if he is getting beaten like a rented mule every game. And worse, blaming others.

Huge fault for 3 goals in 2 games yet, he had 1 good cross in those games so we should forget about the defense!

Yep. Remember the days when Walker or Rose would be flying back to sweep up behind? I said it last season, we won't be genuine title challengers with them as starters because they aren't dynamic enough. Excellent at filling in occasionally but not what this team and Poch's preferred style needs. Aurier and KWP as soon as we can and buy a LB in Jan.
Sessegnon in Jan.

It's all in my previous post, had you chose to read it: "those who are correctly criticising Trippier's poor judgment defensively ".

I reckon he still makes as many goals as he causes us to concede. He's going through a patch of dodgy form.

I reckon Serge has already kicked on. His last couple of performances have been good. I would prefer someone in midfield in January rather than a full back.
