Just watched a YT comp and he reminds me a lot of......Romero Not a bad thing of course.

Loves to try and nip in front of his marker as the ball is played into their feet. Very physical, strong. Unsure on pace but not slow from what I can see. Can ping a long, raking pass as well.

Considering his age and expected price tag, looks a very good option as we're always gonna need a rotation option for Cuti

Kelly makes sense on a free in summer and move Davies on imo.

Agree re. Kelly. I would personally keep Davies as he is as loyal a servant of the club as we'll ever see. I think he'd happily stay and play a bit part and still be a competent player if required in an emergency. I can then see him transitioning into a coaching or ambassador role as his career winds down.

Not fluent in Romanian so had to translate but if I’m right, they’re literally quoting his agent saying the deal is going to happen. Not often you see big papers be able to get big quotes on the record like that.

Ange is incredibly measured in his comments to the media with no over-reactions or hyperbole. So for him again to highlight the importance he places in early transfers, shows just how vital he feels this is.

Couple of points here:

1. Kelly is out injured right now so I don't think that deal makes sense.
2. We're not much in need of HG as we currently have Skipp, Maddison, Forster, 3rd Keeper, Davies, Johnson and Phillips, along with Sarr from next season. Personally I think we go for the best value CB we can get, and not worry too much about HG at this point.

And keep in mind that with Maddison, Forster, Davies and Johnson we already have 4 association trained HG. Any more than that and they are just like non-HG for UEFA purposes.

Agree Todibo would be a phenomenal signing but considering the level of performances he seems to be putting in and the other clubs that are intreated I think there is very little chance he'd go to a team where he isn't a starter unless its like Madrid maybe.

Apparently due to his athleticism he has also played as a fullback (not sure if club or country, again the translation isn’t perfect) so that’s another versatile defender if he comes

I moved to the UK a long time ago so my knowledge might be out of date but I am Romanian and I've never read this sports site. I don't think it has a good reputation, definitely wouldn't trust it, especially as it's quoting a Romanian agent...

Really think we could do with another CM who is comfortable on the ball. I’d prioritise moving PEH and bringing in someone else.

Tbh I think we need another WF first. What tonight said for me is that Ange would rather bring on a 3rd CM who has little to no creative vision then keep Kulu at 10 and replace Johnson with Gil. Now I realise Gil is more comfortable on the left but he’s played RW plenty of times still Ange was more inclined to trust Skipp, a player who isn’t likely to add much of anything to our attack, over a WF.

It’s a shame as I was really hoping Gil would have been given a proper chance to adapt to the PL but I think at this point we may as well move him on and replace him with a player that Ange does trust.

On the one hand, this was a very nasty physical match that Gil would have been smooshed in. So I can see why he’d be held out. On the other hand, there will be a lot of matches like this. I just doubt that he’ll ever have enough of a physical presence to make it in the PL.
