It isn't really the time to be mucking about over a few million. ESPECIALLY as we are so light and didn't get one in last July.

We dragged the Porro deal out although it worked in our favour eventually and we weren't light there.

We surely have identified players from last summer so we SHOULD be able to act fast.

Nusa just scored an excellent goal on his left against Bodo Glimt in the Europa league. He’s having a good game so far. He actually reminds me of Soulé in his play style and areas he operates in.

He is still very raw tho so I can understand why we wouldn’t be in a rush to get him.

I would go for Scalvini or Dragusin at CB.

Then Bakayoko or Roony Bardghji at RW.

I like the look of Wharton to add a HG with great potential.

Ange has said more then once that he wants business done early in Jan. despite this I still struggle to see it happening. One would hope by this point negotiations are well underway for whoever is at the top of our list.

Yeah I agree with you. I know we’ve all indulged, myself included, with wish lists of attackers that we would love to see here but I think you are very likely right and a CB could well be the extent of it. January is very difficult to do business in especially if you don’t want to throw money around. No team wants to loose their best players so even getting a good CB will probably be extremely difficult. Personally I’m expecting a CB and maybe Jota on loan.

I also don't expect a huge name CB tbh. While I certainly like some of the names linked, January always seems to be opportunistic despite how much you can plan for it. I saw loose links to Godfrey and Kelly (again, but less likely this time potentially). I could 100% see a bit of an "underwhelming" young HG CB coming in that could help during the injury crisis and be a good squad player that challenges for the future. I trust the data department and Ange so won't turn my nose up at anyone that comes in personally.

The club I was working for used to do this. It was their method.

Normally worked out as well because these players were firing and their season started (Euro games) in June.

It made sense.

I actually think if it's a player you really really want then it's worth it.

Van Dijk has a shakyish start at Liverpool but ny the following season he was well adjusted

Don't see any reason why we couldn't bring Caceres in at the beginning of Jan if he's someone Ange likes. Seems like a real bargain at 6m or whatever and Bentancur could have a word.

Yes, I just worry that Barca value Lo Celso at 10m and Raphinha at 70m despite them being of comparable quality

Ange said in his press conference happening now that we need to sign a CB as we're short there. Can only see 2 reasons why he's actually saying that, we have one lined up already or hes putting public pressure on bosses to deliver one. Either way I'm good with it

Either works for me but I hope its the former option.
No matter how well we are playing under Ange we are always one incident away from dire straits at the back.
Fingers crossed we have someone lined up to come in early to avoid our usual perusing of the 'short contracts/CAA base client' pages of our little black book in the last week of Jan.
