Here I go again for the third time this week.
You need to define 'winners' and 'success'
I am very happy, over the moon in fact
about our young squad, its attitude, its progress, its spirit
and the Manager motivating all of this.
We have winners all over the pitch.
Eriksen most assists in all European leagues.
Harry, Golden Boot two seasons running
Most goals scored, least conceded
best full backs in England.
And more but you'd skip the list.
Now you don't get a trophy for any of this (well harry did) but you do
for half a dozen wins in competitions heavily dependent
on the luck of the draw, injuries, refs, weather, location and so on and on.
We are winners and a success
individually and collectively
and I value all of this today more than anything.
Not been so happy as a Spurs supporter since the Glory Glory days.

Everyone is losing the bloody plot.

Just enjoy the season we just had.
You can go abiut identifying what is required to improve the squad whilst also acknowledging and appreciating the season you had which I'm sure we are all appreciative of - I certainly am. I highly doubt Poch is sitting in front of the TV watching rewinds and wanking himself silly over how good we were,

I often hear how can we improve our team because virtually we wouldn't replace any of them but it's not necessarily improving the first eleven. It is improving the squad as a whole but to do that I'd rather get in two or three who can instill a mentality to win and at times win dirty.

It is obvious that we need to win something and sometimes it is a missing agreement such as learning from someone who has been there done that got the t shirt,

I would hesitate on calling these teams "very mediocre", etc. They finished 5th and 6th in a notoriously tough league, which until a couple of years ago was us. Just because we've finally pulled ourselves up to 2nd and 3rd recently, we shouldn't start forgetting that already.

Hasn't Jose, won the FA Cup, Watney Cup and Europa League?

I'd kill for a "very mediocre" year and a half of that.

LoL

I've just been confronted with the some ENIC are fleecing the club to line their pockets posts, elsewhere.

It's like they can't
1 - just be happy

2 - use even rudimentary logic

Shocking!

really can't believe any of you are jealous of that lot after yesterday? Yeah, it's a pot and a special one to Spurs with our history.

But kinell we've just had the best league season I've ever seen and I've been going since 78. Absolutely brilliant.

They've come out the woodwork desperately trying to claim flying their silly red flags means their worst team in years is still more successful than our best. It's bollox. Hold your heads high. One swallow for them don't make a summer, and they are a bunch of swallowers. Their season has been a farce, the Wenger out banners, ArsenalTV rants especially the we're shite and you're racists desperation after their outclassing at the Lane. Our season is genuinely all I care about.

Forgive me if i'm wrong, but i thought we had the best start ever to a premier league campaign?
We stuttered in oct/nov when we had a lot of players injured and had to change formation.
And group stage of CL

So to everyone who thinks the whole 'winners' thing is bullshit, why is that Man U can breeze through the Europa League at virtually their first attempt and we can't seem to get anywhere near it?

because the way their season was going they put most of their eggs in 1 basket. at 1 stage they looked liked they were in danger of going out in the group stages, only winning their last 2 matches got them in the ko's.

when we played Gent away we had injuries, had just played Liverpool away and also had a tricky FA cup tie away to Fulham coming up. the only reason we were KO'd from the Europa was down to playing the majority of the 2nd leg with 10 men.

we suffered this season from not having squad depth, not players with a winning mentality. An Edgar Davids wouldn't of seen our 2nd string through the League Cup, or stopped Alli getting sent off, or be without Rose due to injury, Davies apparently carrying a knock, and Chelsea scoring 4 of their 5 chances. 1 off games can go either way, form doesn't mean anything, if it did Wigan wouldn't of won the FA Cup a few years back.

an experienced player with the winning mentality doesn't guarantee you winning any match. in 43-44 years of really following Spurs, I have seen us batter teams on the day, and lose because they score a blinder, and their keeper has a worldie. had we steered clear of injuries this season in vital matches, and at vital times we could of been talking about a team that's just won the double or even treble, it's not experience it's called consistency, and having the lucky breaks when needed, we had 2 months of inconsistency with bad luck.

every CL match we played, not once was we able to field our strongest 11.

WBA away no Rose, or Kane, Toby picked up an injury colliding with Jan, total possession, 8/20 on target which 5 top class saves from their keeper.

Bournemouth away, just after a CL match with BL (a match played in consistent rain the whole 90 mins), yet again no Toby, no Kane, a low in confidence striker that would of been better as a target man rested for Son, and we played a team that closed us down and we never had an out ball.

Leicester at home, still no Toby or Kane, Leicester score with their only effort on target thanks to a misplaced pass.

Arse away no Toby or Alli, do believe we attempt 3-4-2-1 for the 1st time, Wimmer only making his 1st app in a 3 man back line, scores an unfortunate OG, that he felt he had to go for not knowing for certain if their players were offside.

we then beat Wetspam, but then Chelsea our 3rd consecutive London Derby, after a demoralising defeat away to Monaco, who didn't do to bad in the CL in the end. yet again no Toby, no Rose no Davies so having to use Wimmer as a left back, our bench only had 1 player on it that had any experience on it in the PL, that was Vorm. we were out playing them and leading till another goal out of nowhere, and a quick counter attack early in the 2nd half.

in those 5 games out of 7 over October and November we lost due to having no luck with injuries, no breaks with keepers playing well, and a lot of fixtures which included an international break where most of our squad where playing 1-2 games. those 2 months cost us 1 trophy the PL, an experience player with a winning mentality couldn't of changed anything, and even if we had 1 he would of most probably been injured the way our luck went, by dropping a tin of peas on his big toe:ROFLMAO:

I disagree completely. You only have to recall the shift in our attitude when Edgar Davids joined us. A similar effect when VDV joined too. Neither of those signings resulted in trophies of course, but they would have had a psychological effect on the squad.

It holds true in other sports too. Even snooker players, tennis players, and boxers look to surround themselves with people who have a winning mentality and experience.

I'd say a mental shift took place when Leicester signed Cambiasso. It's important to have those kind of players in and around the squad. Certainly not essential, but I'd say it's useful.
I agree and to add to it

Cantona had a similar effect at Man Utd
Davids had a huge effect at barcelona and is often heralded as saving Rijkaard's and Laporte's job -http://the18.com/news/barcelona-could’ve-crumbled-one-man-transformed-their-fortunes
Makelele imo arguably had a similar effect
Also look at arsenal, as soon as Wenger replaced the old guard with a new young team in 2007, they went a long period without winning anything.
