Agreed. Might be an unpopular opinion but I think Barrios is slightly better than Dier in the DM position. Some people said he was a headless chicken but he impressed me in the WC games (apart from the headbutt obviously).

That said I’m hoping we buy an additional CM - a proper replacement for Dembele should he go. That’s more important.
He impress you against England?

When we bought toby dier was playing cb people wanted us to buy in other areas. Wanyama wasn't that exciting.

Both improved us.
We gave up 50+ goals in the league the summer before Toby came we definitely needed defensive additions. Wanyama wasn't exciting but we needed a player at that point we could bring on and kill a game off.

Plus Wanyama is still here, and I’m sure I read he’d rejected the chance to play for Kenya in order to have a proper pre season.

Unless we’ve concluded he’ll never be the same again, I really don’t see why we need this guy at all, even if he’s decent.

I 100% agree. This would be a stupid signing.

We're on the brink of being able to compete with every team in the world and I'm of the opinion we are one player away and that is a dominant central midfielder. Its really frustrating that we have some of the best attacking talent in the world and we can't realize that we need a player who can link all of those together.. Rather than someone who is really fast or can win the ball. Just doesn't make sense, surely Poch is smarter than that!

So both Levy and Poch are stupid ? How ever have we progressed as we have over the last few years ?

They would have to authorize the signing so they by definition must be stupid as per your post.
This would be a stupid signing, not that they are stupid people. Not sure why people get so butt hurt on here anytime we dare question the transfer tactics of the club or manager.

Hindsight, both were fairly controversial and hotly debated here and elsewhere.

Not as much as the previous matches but he was alright, IMO.

I watched it again as I couldn't believe those who were praising it.

He wasn't good at all. Lots of endeavour and tenacity. Apart from that it was lots of fouls (some needless) and many poor passes.

Some people just want shiny new toys.

I don't doubt he's a good player but I cant form too much of an opinion as like almost everybody I've only seen him in this WC and a YouTube clip.

He player really well in one of the group games but against England he was meh.

I not sure about the signing purely because I don't see a need for him.

I can buy that the players in choice were debated but I can't imagine people didn't want us adding a CB after giving up 50+ league goals. Hell we bought two CB's and a fullback that summer. Thats what were saying about Barrios, it's not so much about the player its the role he plays and how we don't need another.

I thought he made a lot of really good interceptions. I only managed to watch the last portion of the game (so I missed the headbutt) but it felt like he kept popping up in a large portion of England’s counterattacks at the end of the game and in extra time. We’d surge upfield and he’d either bring the player down (which is typically what Poch wants tbf) or he was the one blocking the cross or collecting the ball in the box.

He seemed to have a pretty sharp mind for where to be in defensive situations. Some have called him a headless chicken but he didn’t look like that at all.

Fair enough, respect your view. To be honest I wasn’t paying much attention to the Colombian performance in that match - too nervous !

I keep swaying between thinking this is gonna happen to it being bullshit.

An English club, which is not Tottenham, is interested in @wilmarBarrios8. Boca made them know that they only let him go in December.
