If it goes down to the last match, i reckon the ref will keep us and Chelsea playing until they're top of the league.
Could go on for months.

Here's a question...what happens if both teams finish on the same number of points, same GD, same goals scored and conceded? Does it come down to head to head? if so both teams have beaten each other so what then?

*I realise all this is unlikely but it's good to know.

If it then goes to goal difference in the head to head then we win 3-2.

Don't know if it does though.

I did a lengthy search for official rules, but I came up fruitless.

According to this site though:

1) GD Currently Spurs +42 - Chelsea +40 *winner
2) Goals scored Currently Chelsea 65 - Spurs 64 *loser
3) H2H results (total points) - even
4) H2H Goals scored - 3-2 to us on aggregate *winner
5) H2H away goals scored - 1-0 to us *winner
6) Total away goals scored for the entire season - currently Chelsea 26 goals to Spurs 25 goals. but we have 4 remaining away matches to their 3 remaining away matches. (does not matter)

Surely it's a play-off? The TV money would be too much to turn down

I have full confidence that the Choosen one will stir his mercenaries up enough to overcome the Russian mafia while we lower the gap to 4 points seperating us, after a hard fought Bournemouth game. Come the end of the season WE will win the league on goal difference.

Best two out of three arm wrestle, each team puts one person up, our nominee will obviously be Dembele.

Spurs 3 - 0 Bournemouth

Chelsea 2 - 0 Southampton
Palace 2 - 2 Spurs

Everton 1 - 0 Chelsea
Spurs 2 - 1 Arsenal

West Ham 1 - 2 Spurs
Chelsea 4 - 0 Middlesbrough

West Brom 1 - 0 Chelsea
Spurs 2 - 1 Man Utd

Chelsea 3 - 0 Watford
Leicester 0 - 2 Spurs

Chelsea 5 - 0 Sunderland
Hull 1 - 2 Spurs

Both finish on 87 points with +51 goal difference (F79 A28). We win the league thanks to Eriksen's goal at Stamford Bridge.

:D

All hypothesis, but it does show just how much we need them to slip up to even get close. Although some of those results are optimistic, none are ridiculously far-fetched.

I think the only fair way would be a play off, one match at Wembley.

Man UTD can't even score in a brothel! No chance of Chelsea losing.

They've only failed to score in five league games this season and are the 7th highest scorers. Most importantly though they have the second best defence behind ours.

Factoring in our impressive goal difference, and assuming the other sides challenging for the top 4 win all of their remaining games, 10 more points would guarantee top 3 (unless we lose a couple of games 10-0).

11 more points guarantees at least 2nd place.

7 more points guarantees finishing above the gooners.

Given that it's unlikely anyone will win every game left to play, I actually think 2 wins and a draw would secure a top 3 spot (not that I expect us to lose 3 games out of our last 6).

Given our less than impressive away form, the two remaining home games are massive (even if they weren't the last games at the Lane). Win them and I suspect we'll be in the group stages of the CL.

Whatever happens, we can actually afford to drop 6 points without being caught by any of the teams below us.

* edit - this doesn't account for the fact that some of those teams are guaranteed to drop points due to playing each other (United v Arse, United v City)

A draw against Palace and a win against Arsenal would ensure we finish above them.

Yep.

Being ultra pessimistic for the sake of this thread, I'd still have us down to get at least 8 points. It's not going to be as easy as some think. In our last 6 games we play 4 teams that would love to see us fail for various reasons, and it's hard to predict how the drama of the last ever NLD and last ever match at the Lane will affect the players and the opposition.

And have only lost three games this season which is the same as us.
After today I honestly think if Man U can do a job on them tomorrow we'll win it.

2nd.
Disappointingly 3rd - still Man Utd, Arsenal, West Ham and Leicester are all games where we could drop 2 or 3 points.
