I’ve done the player-player comparisons for our team before. We’re better up top obviously, the rest is somewhat comparable. Tbf to them, I’d say that Partey is probably better than Hojbjerg, and Tomiyasu/Zinchenko probably better than Royal/Sess… but then we addressed that signing Perisic and Bissouma

The real glaring issue for Assna is that they have no depth. The drop off is so stark. How they’ll manage EL, Cups, and PL football come winter time is a big question mark. We have so much better quality in depth, that’s where the huge gap is.

Ryan is improving though we saw that backend of last season and today. Understanding his role and position Think he's on an upward

Dejan is the best signing we've made since Son and we didn't have to wait a year to find his form in the league. Saying Saka is a generational talent better than Dejan is the best Giggle I've had in a while.

No club’s fanbase overrates it’s players more than them lot down the road.
Thing is, if they were much more grounded about everything, I'd be a bit more worried.

However, because they go so OTT about it, it acts as a good barometer to understand how good they really are.

For example, if they were grounded about Saka and said something along the lines of "Good young player who has room for lots of improvement" You will hope he doesn't improve.

But they do with the "Saka is sensational", "A generational talent" and it's so far fetched that it actually comforts you because you know it's nothing like that.

I've never seen saka play well. Not once. He is very ordinary imo. Is he a winger? A striker?

It's pointless sharing the stuff from AM, they don't live on another planet, they are in a different dimension.

The player comparison stuff is pointless as it misses the key element…the manager. Davies and Dier are good players. Davies and Dier in a Conte defence are great players. Saliba may be a great player……..but Arteta.

Surprised Kane didn't have his usual penalty today
I love this sort of thing. It's like we get a penalty every week the way they rattle on about it.

We had 5 in the whole of last season in the league. 2 at home, which came in our 18th and 19th games at home. They had 8 themselves. 6 at home. Although they probably forget they got that many as they missed 3 of them.

The manager, the dressing room camaraderie, the blend or youth and experience. The player by player comparisons are best left to the truly special folk who inhabit the comment sections to a Fab Romano post.

Player/squad comparisons are perfectly fine / fun to do, but yes the manager and blend of squad and other factors of course also come into the overall performance.

He ain’t ordinary as much as I wish he was. 20 G+A return in the PL last year at only 20 is undeniably good, and he had to play with Lacazette, Pepe and Nketiah, not Kane and Son. And he has done well to rebound and cement a spot in the England side. He’s got smarts and pace, he’s good technically, he’s a nice young player.

can’t bring myself to hate on him yet.

the problem is that… he is a converted wingback, and a better worker than he really is a dribbler, passer, or goal scorer. He’s an Arsenal boy so he’s massively massively overrated there, a lot of matches last year he was the only real outlet up top who tries to make things happen. He does the right things but there’s no special talent there, the problem is Arsenal are so starved for talent that they hype his regular contributions like Barça fans do for Messi. Just because he’s their most consistent player doesn’t mean he does things Kulu doesn’t do.

Let’s not get it wrong, in terms of goal contributions he has as an under 21 player, he’s right up there in the whole of Europe, and he’s playing in the hardest league, not the Eredivisie.

Agree neither have I, maybe I have been unlucky with the games I have watched. I have seen plenty of good games of Smith Rowe and Odengard (just to prove I’m wearing my Lilly white glasses).

Sky Sports News viewers have been picking their transfer window XI...

Arsemania not taken this well:

State of this. Also the window is not done yet.

Perisic over Zinchenko and Richarlison over Jesus is a joke.

I think we have got real value for money with our central defenders:

White, Saliba, Gabriel and Holding £111m
Varane, Maguire, Martinez and Lindelof £205m
Ake, Laporte, Stones and Dias £208m
VVD, Kounde, Matip and Gomez £120m
Sanchez, Romero, Davies and Dier £105m

I've left Chelsea out as their business in central defence is unfinished. I think our options are much better than Sp**s and Man Utd and if they all reach their potential they could get close to Liverpool and City in 3-4 years.

Damn manutd seriously overpaid for thier defense also Sp**s defense is seriously average lucky they got Conte coaching them

Yeah I don't rate the Sp**s defence at all outside of Romero, definitely have their weaknesses masked by the system.

Kind of agree, he is good, but of Arsenal sides gone by he wouldn’t even get a sniff of the first team. He’s got more ability and footballing brain than peak Walcott but that doesn’t make him Henry or Pires just yet. He has the talent and he plays with freedom, but we have seen this with players like Dele and Rashford.
Not sure if Mikel is the right coach to get the best out of him.

Please do me a favour and never do the player by playercomparison again.

Nowadays football is a game of very small skill/physical margins so tactics, team mentality, belief etc. make the crucial difference.
