@nicdic - your post from the now closed 20/21 thread:

Completely agreed. They are complaining about Tanganga committing 5 or 6 fouls in the first half without being booked. But from my, admittedly distant, vantage point in the Park Lane, a good half of those fouls appeared to have been generously awarded. Grealish and Sterling went to ground very easily. Japhet was just stronger and more committed than them.

"Spring Heeled Jack" = that first dive into the box early on in the game when they got a FK was a farce.

City were 13th after we'd beaten them last season. Ridiculous to even begin to speculate about the merest possibility of writing them off.

Absolutely. I shudder to think what they could do if/when they manage to get Kane on board too, playing alongside De Bryune. I don't think you'll be hearing too many Chelsea fans sneering and doubting them then!

Tried to steer clear of the press waffle after yesterday but I'm fucking gobsmacked to read about Tananga's 'dominant' display.

Just for clarity, being dominant these days is being given carte blanche to kick fuck out of the opponent with no repercussions. Embarrassing punditry.

You'd swear they don't actually see Fernandinho "tackle" all game.

Some of those Chelsea fans are writing off City after one game.

I think that's a bit daft personally; didn't they have a slow start last season?

Totally agree it will be a close run thing but think we will edge them out to the title last game of the season

Spurs' new shirt looks like it was picked up from George At Asda...... £3 each white T shirt....
They also print the place they got the player from on the back - "Skipp"

City all over Sp*rs. Only a matter of time before City score.

Cracking goal from that dirty b*stard Son

To be fair Tottenham playing decent against an incredibly lacklustre and dare I say it arrogant looking Man City.
Strolling around the pitch as if they think it's only a matter of time before they score.
These lazy fuc*ers would never get in a David Moyes side

I think spurs are the better team and look more dangerous in front of goal man city look poor

This Spurs team looking worryingly good. Well drilled like they were under Jose but with more bite on the counter.
Man City, ha! As others have said that £100m looks like it would be better spent on someone to spearhead the attack. Lots of ball, but no killer instinct.

I guess this means Spurs are winning the league again... Sigh

Shame spurs won but they did deserve it. Wish city would play like that against us.

Certainly is an impressive stadium Spurs have got.
Got to say though...spurs definitely wanted that more. On balance of play, they deserved it. Tanganga completely stifled Sterling, and I thought both Skipp and Moura were excellent.
Grealish... can't stand him.

Spurs fans celebrating as if they've won a cup or something
Son still on the pitch 7 minutes after the games has finished.
Very odd behaviour

Think it’s more about supporters being back in the stadium. Spurs winning against the champions without Harry Kane is a contender for most annoying result of the season already, but I don’t blame them for hanging around after 18 months playing in front of no-one.
On a separate note, reffing - and dare I say it, VAR - noticeably good this opening weekend.

I found it difficult enjoying Man City lose with it being Spurs.
Yes they have the best stadium I'm the country despite Old Trafford being bigger.
I was actually happy for Nuno as on paper with the Kane situation and the Grealish circus riding into town he was on a hiding to nothing. A poor start and fans on his back

This line made me chuckle:

"These lazy fuc*ers would never get in a David Moyes side"

Those Man City players would be distraught if they heard that!

Someone has forgotten what being at a stadium where players can actually see and interact with the fans feels like.

The guy below got it though.

I get rivalry and all that, but no need for this. Son is one of the nicest guys in football. How can anyone call him that?

Has Pep won at this ground with City?
No. Won v Spurs away in 2018/19 but that was at Wembley. At new White Hart lane lost last two league away games and also that CL tie

Son. fantastic goal

1-0! Who needs Kane!

What a goal

SON! Well done you cheat!

That was a beauty !

Scorer of great goals.

Who needs Kane when you have this talisman

They are hitting City on the break constantly. Did everything right this time.

Glaston will be back at this rate.

Ruben Dias attempt to block that shot

The fans make such a massive difference. It really isn't proper football without fans

Why haven't any big clubs signed Son? I don't get it at all.

No chance now as he just signed a new contract, but yeah wonder why. Got a feeling he loves it at Spurs and just happy there.

Look how much stronger and fitter Spurs look under Nuno. People who think Jose isnt a shit manager this days need to wake up.

We would've put 3 or 4 past this City team today.

What kind of damage will we do to City if Spurs are carving them open on the counter.

love seeing Spurs fans getting all hyped up and smug. Makes the inevitable collapse so much better

Think Kane is almost worth more to City than he is to Spurs now. I don't think City will win the league without Kane. The other teams are too good to allow them to walk the league anymore. Spurs will win feck all and are not making top 4 regardless of whether Kane stays or not.

feck me, Spurs are battering them. They just need better end product to finish off the counter attacks. They should be two or three up here.

Direct players are running this game. Look at how lucas moura is running around like pac

Spurs look absolutely fantastic. Shades of our performance at the Etihad last year

The fans have made a huge difference. You can see the Spurs players giving that little extra because of it.

WTF is this referee? Yellow to Lucas but not to Dias?

I'm not seeing how it's any different from Spurs' win last season though.

Real test will be when the Spurs fans expect the team to apply pressure and dominate opponents.
More shots on goal, much clearer counter attacks, fluidity. All better. Even Alli and Skipp look a part.

Spurs simply want this more. They are winning every second ball. City have been a shower. Failed to compete

Lucas is a good player, he’s got more than just pace.

I've always been impressed when I see him play. He's like a box to box, winger, attacking midfield, press and 2nd ball machine at times.

Moura comfortably outshining Grealish today

Can only assume the Gomes tackle at Everton and when he kicked out at Rudigers top against the chavs.

A lot of fans seem to have this opinion of him. It's really weird.

Gomes was an accident and I saw worse go unpunished than Son on Rudiger. Just seems a dumb mentality. Find myself thinking how different I am as a football fan these days.

It is dumb I agree, but other teams fans hate us having good players so they will find any kind of stick to beat them with, I mean look at the pelters Kane has got over the years from other fans.

Son isn't dirty but he has been petulant. The sending offs against Chelsea and Bournemouth were very toddler-y. Even the Everton tackle, a harsh and correctly downgraded red, was not a great tackle and was made in frustration.

Was gonna add similar, he's had like the most red cards of the current squad, hasn't he? So don't think that helps. Especially cause we all describe him as the nicest and loveliest guy
