Really concerned about the qualifier on the back of a pre-season campaign disrupted due to the WC. At present our 9 WC players are not playing in the US, we have 3 youngsters with the U19s, Sandro hasn't appeared (is he still with Internacionale?), and we have 3/4 injured or recovering from injury (O'Hara, Bentley, Corluka, Kranjcar). Just hope we don't draw a team whose season starts earlier (Zenit, Kiev) or one whose players have not been at the WC. The qualifier is a potential banana skin, especially in a WC year.

If we can overcome the pressure cooker of the qualifier then I think we can play with a bit of freedom in the group stages. Quite a few (thoughtful) pundits have said we could spring a surprise in the CL and if we make the group stages then I think we could.

Consider how scared even Barcelona were of Theo Walcott and then think how much better Lennon and Bale are than him, these direct players combined with the craft of Modders and hopefully the Hudd shining with a bit more time on the ball - we could do well. Think how easy the scum had it up until Barca..

I just hope the pressure doesnt get too much for them in the qualis, especially if we get a decent team, but we showed great character to get 4th in the first place..we'll also be an underdog in many games which I think suits us now.

If we get a tough group, then 3rd place. Otherwise we can finish 2nd and get to the round of 16.

But I do think we'll beat one of Europes Elite teams in the Champions League this season.

Don't really want to tempt fate - but given good draw in final qualifying match then see no reason why we should not progress out of group (proably second) and then go out.

If we achieve this then we can view as a sucess anything more would be unbelieveable.

Even finishing 3rd and a run in Europa would be acceptable but I have faith so COYS.

Never been more nervous supporting Spurs than about the upcoming qualifier. Dont want to even think any further so as not to tempt fate.

This.

Hoping to get through the group stage even though i voted win.
If we get dumped into the Europa we should be looking to win it.

I think we will finish 3rd and have a good run in the Europa. I would also class that as quite successful for a first stab at the Champions League.
Agree with this. Voted accordingly.

At the moment it is impossible to predict how we will do.

We definitely need to strengthen upfront, I would say we should expect two more signings.

If we win our qualifier, it also depends so much on the group we get drawn in.

Even with these variables I am still quietly confident we can get to the knock out stages.

I predict a decent showing in the group stages, but only managing 3rd spot due to lack of experience. Followed by a good run in the Europa League, but for Harry not to put too much emphasis on it due to focusing on retaining 4th spot in the league.

Exactly how I feel! Who ever we get it will be a tuff game! Biggest game we have played in many a year!

If we can comprehensively outplay chelsea and arsenal when they are both chasing the league title and so at peak performance then we can hold our own in the CL and I don't believe we'll meet United until the Semi's so I voted for the semifinal:)

Exactly, we are going to get better even if we don't sign anyone, as well (not forgetting Sandro), so why are there so many pessimists. Using it as a defence mechanism due to years of underachievement just about held good for last season...it won't hold at all in the future. Get behind the team and believe - this team is getting better.

I agree with your sentiments but although we slaughtered Chelsea, we only did a professional job on Arsenal.

I just don't think that the majority of teams in the cl are that good and it is going to be about keeping our heads and playing with sense. If we do that we are good enough to get to the quarters, and from there, who knows?

My big worry is harrys record in Europe to be honest it's not exactly impressive. His Portsmouth team which was a good team at the time struggled in the uefa cup (as it was then) and we didn't exactly set the world alight in our small time in the uefa cup when he came to us. Please don't get me wrong and think I'm having ago at Harry or wanting him out as anyone who knows me personally will tell you I think Harry is best thing since sliced bread at the moment! He has worked wonders since coming to us. But his record in Europe does make me quite nervous about the up coming qualifier!

It all depends on the tricky qualifier. If we pass that, get a good striker, then a 1/4 final would be realistic. For me not passing the groups would be serious underachieving.
