10th. i just cannot see how a club succeeds like this. our best player wants out, the chairman's a prick, the manager's a bit underwhelming, the fans are fuming and we've had virtually no time to prepare for the season. honestly it's sad because i want to be excited. i like nuno, he's a good guy, but i just can't make myself care like i have before. it feels like, with our best player trying to engineer a move publicly to the runaway leaders that we're miles from any tangible success. and i can't find solace in it being My Club because ENIC tried to use the club my grandfather took me to to destroy football (after 18 months of mourinho, an experience so excruciating a pandemic interrupting it came as a relief).

Perspective about the final game of the season. And the infamous Newcastle game in 2016. Here were the lineups that day:

How many of those players (Newcastle), from that 2016 squad, would be IMMEDIATE starters in this year's Norwich squad?

(Shelvey, Papa Sisse, and Ayoze Perez were all on the bench). I'd go out on a limb and say at least 8 of those Newcastle players from 2016 would be starters in today's Canaries first XI.

Norwich last game lineup.

So, it is a little difficult to not feel quietly confident. I have the utmost respect for the opposition. And believe they won't show up waving the white flag and showing us their belly. It's their last game in the PL, so they're wanna go out all guns blazing. So, in that respect, there is some potential for this to be a high scoring game. However, should we lose to them, that would be right up there with one of the worst results in our history. Especially if Arsenal win.

Therefore, I hope that Conte is working very hard on the mindset for this game. Getting the players mentally in a headspace, where they respect the opposition, and will match their energy levels and determination, if not, outright exceed them. We have so much on the line. This can't be a foregone conclusion. And I doubt Conte and his backroom staff will be treating it as such.

Absolutely no idea why people are referencing the Newcastle 5-1. We’d lost the league the players were on the beach they didn’t give a shit if came 2nd or 3rd. We still have everything to play there’s absolutely zero correlation. In fact it’s the complete opposite. Then we were on a massive downer now we are on a massive bounce.

Just read an article on the top 4 race, written on the 12th of February .

At the time of writing it, we were projected using data to finish on 61 pts and get 5th. We are going to finish on 71 pts. Amazing work

I’ve definitely gone from the jubilation of Thursday Sunday and Monday to the realisation we still need a point it’s football and anything can happen ?

If Leicester carry their form into the Chelsea game, and somehow win, it will make the last round of games very turbulent.

Obviously we need to finish the job but just to be in this position given where we were in November is incredible. I don’t mean only in terms of points but the overall trajectory of the club.

When Arsenal beat us at the Emirates we looked miles off where we wanted to be. It looked like it might take us years and a total rebuild to get back to where we had been under peak Pochettino. Arsenal seemed like they had finally got their act together whilst we were going backwards. Realistically it felt like our new ceiling was around 5th/6th.

Now, irrespective of what happens on Sunday, we have made huge progress. Don’t get me wrong, it’s really important we get the job done against Norwich and to lose it from here would be a big psychological blow. But I would still expect us to improve during the summer and look to overtake Chelsea next season.

For the first time since the Champions League final we look like we are genuinely moving forward as a club.

If we do see it through there’s definitely the potential to get an almost Europa group with Frankfurt now in pot 1.If Madrid win CL then Ajax be in Pot 1 and so will Porto. Obvious big guns would be Madrid PSG Bayern. Don’t think either Milan be that scary. And doesn’t look to be anything to scary lower down in pots 3 or 4. We’d definitely have a reasonable shout to get to last 16. But I’m probably getting a tad ahead of myself.

Dark green are definitely pot 1
Light green are qualified not certain on pot
Red are out
Yellow maybe
Blue definitely pot 2

Can we please save the “who will we get in the champions league“ talk till after Sunday. Have we learned nothing from the history of THFC.

I’m hoping for an early lead and a quick second goal coupled with an arsenal collapse in a toxic emirates. But it is also more than possible that the goons are 1-0 up going into the 80th min with it still 0-0 at Carrow Road at which point anything might happen.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. If my caution seems a little misplaced, its because I am 53 years old and have the battle scars to prove it :)

I understand where you are coming from but there is also something to be said about being confident rather than fearing a disaster. The whole “spursy” thing can become a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy. There’s always this kind of expectation that things will go wrong and I think that feeling gets transmitted to the players.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with rocking up to Norwich with a swagger and fully expecting to beat them. That’s not being complacent it’s having a belief that we are winners. If we want to be involved in title chases and cup finals that’s exactly the kind of belief we will need.

Agreed, if we can’t go to Norwich and get a win we simply do not deserve champs league. If Kane and son our world class players can’t drag us through against one of the worst ever prem sides in terms of points gained then I give up.

Especially after getting a point away at one of the best ever prem sides a few weeks ago..!
