Which game or games would people rest Kane for?

Tue Aug 30 West Ham United A
Sat Sep 3 Fulham H
Sept 7 Marseille H
Sat Sep 10 Manchester City A
Sept 13 Sporting A
Sat Sep 17 Leicester City H

I would rest him vs Fulham and Sporting. Richarlison to start tomorrow instead of Son and then to replace Kane on Saturday.

Resting Son tomorrow might hurt his confidence which does seem to be falling away but theres so many games that I can't imagine players will have time wallow in self pity much.

How would we organise the back three? Lenglet plays on the left and is very left-footed, like Davies. That would require Sanchez to continue in place of Romero, with Dier between them.

Especially if they're going to need to deal with Antonio, who is a handful even when he isn't scoring, I'd rather persevere with the tested trio of Sanchez, Dier and Davies. Lenglet can ideally have his debut when we can have Dier and Romero to hold down the other two places.
I think what he is saying is if Romero cannot start, then swap Lenglet for Davies as apparently Lenglet is more comfortable playing out of the back - not a direct replacement.

Richarlison will start atleast one game over the next five days... I think Richie will start v Fulham and Son starting v Marseille. Games are coming thick and fast over the next two months and Rich is definitely now settling in well and there is an increasing understanding with himand our current crop.
I think all of the front 3 will get a rest over the next 5 games, which will allow Richy to get a good 3 starts (and well deserved). Its just a matter of who plays what - for the answer to that I will refer to Mr Conte.

I cant see Kane getting a rest, he may well get subbed off say against Fulham in readiness for Marseille but the spine of Hugo, Dier, PEH and Kane I think are key. Conte needs to use the subs earlier which will give the players a rest but the only way he will do that is if we are pretty much out of sight and with our relatively tough starts to games, that is not easy to do.

We will see though, Im sure Conte and his team have it all planned out - will be interesting

Yes. And I outlined the problems that could cause against a side with a physical no. 9.

When Kane needs a rest, Conte will rest him. Otherwise, Kane Is starting.

Also - for what its worth in the 538 ELO rankings, Sporting is the highest ranked team in our CL group (besides Spurs). Eintracht is the lowest ranked team, if you were looking to rest players against easier competition.

Spurs 10
Sporting 22
Marseille 46
Eintracht 63

You just know it's going to be absolutely the same starting line up. Not a criticism.

First rotations will happen vs Foolham. And earlier than usual subs vs Waste Ham if the game is won.

Thanks for pointing out it's Conte's decision and he will rest Kane when he needs a rest. And that when he will be starting games when he's not being rested. I wonder what games Conte will choose to do it in because there are some games he will want him fit for, like Man City.

Start the Marseille game off right at home with our best team, 3 points on the board right out of the gate. Just gotta win your home games and get a draw and we should go through. Thats how I would do it, so I would give him the Fulham game off so he can be fresh for Marseille and Man City, then let him sit out the hardest group game, try to play for a point.

Looking at how Conte managed Lukaku during his time at Inter in the Champions League. He seemed to play him every CL group game he was fit for but he had a 'Muscle Injury' for the 2019 Barcelona (away) group game and in the 2020 Real Madrid (away) group game he had an 'Abductor Injury'

Could have been legit injuries ofc but in 2019 he missed Barcelona and then played 90 vs Juventus at the weekend. Could see him rested vs Marseille before we play City.

Although we are not playing well, WHU are not playing well either so the match is up for grabs.

This is where I feel, we start to improve, playing matches in quick succession. We are a team that wants to play. Son is due a good game and kane is scoring at will. WHU at home, have it all ti lose. The pressure is on them big time.

My worry with this game is if we go behind early.

It's all well and good ceding control of the game to play on the counter and try and limit opportunities, but it'll encourage panic if we go behind and suddenly have to take the game to them.

If they take a Moyes like approach of counterattacking this could be a staring contest for 60 mins before one decides to go for it. ?

The best thing about Bissouma starting is that he has owned Rice every time Brighton beat the Hammeroids. If Pierre and Biss beat Rice and Soucek, we win because we will score.

It won't be as Bissouma will come in for Bentancur.

We have been great from behind under Conte. When we concede early I no longer panic, I just have faith that Conte’s plan and system over 90 minutes will mean that we come back and win.

We also seem to start poorly in the first half, then Conte works it all out snd makes the changes at half time.

I have actually started to wonder if it is part of the plan to start slowly - take what they throw at us, and then tweek at half time and come home like a train.
The players and manger keep saying the right things but it doesn't seem to change so I am not sure. Maybe Conte knows it will be an incredibly long season and we just need to conserver some energy with so many games and a world cup thrown in... So long as we keep winning I am good with whatever the tactics.

I also feel like Conte’s teams kick into gear at some point. We had a tough preseason and the players seem to not be as sharp but we keep winning and at some point everyone will start firing
