Well, to be totally honest my #1 want was Murat Yakin, but I was never against Poch and wanted him more than FdB.

I vehemently did not want Benitez.

I don't like Pochetino's teeth and he doesn't have a sexy beard like AVB, so I hope he fails. Does that answer your question?

My first choice was FDB but after reading up on Poch I was totally convinced. Don't know if he's the right choice but he fills me with confidence, more than AVB did strangely, I think that's because at least we know he has a plan and is looking to implement it.

Thought he was as 'flavour of the month' choice when appointed, but most of my thoughts have been positive since then, especially watching our US tour games ( 2 on TV, one live) and seeing hopeful signs.

But really, it's too early to be sure of anything, ask me again at the end of the season, or even at the half way stage.

Poch seems to play 'The Spurs Way', so that's a positive.

And, let's be honest, he was the best choice of the options we had without having to spend uber bucks, which I doubt Daniel wanted to do anyway (expect, perhaps, in the case of LVG or FDB).

When all said and done it will come down to results

We don't have he pull to get the very best so we hope to get somebody on the up

Poch fits the bill but so do others

He was certainly on my list of acceptables

I'm always a little hesitant about managerial changes because of late we've had so many. However just seeing how people like Holtby, Lennon in particular, Naughton, Mason etc have all been positively affected by Mauricio thrills me to bits.
I wasn't able to see today's game against Celtic due to streaming problems but it appears to me from reading the game blog on SC that all players were highly motivated even against third rate opposition (Celtic's B side), and that excites me too.

Voted No - I haven't changed my mind as there wasn't a "I don't know yet and haven't changed my mind" option.

But it's also far too early to ask the question, ask again end of this season.

Poch was always my choice. Even over van gaal.
Way too early to say the correct choice, but I think enough good signs to pacify those going hysterical when we didnt pick fdb

Supported his appointment but would have been OK with De Boer. Knew Van Gaal was gone as soon as Man Utd came sniffing and still think he could flop - we'll see. Didn't want Benitez at all. So far Poch has made a good start. Players seem to like him and are enjoying his style. Looking good on the pitch with higher tempo and attractive play. Poch has shown a united front with Levy, Franco and Broomfield and has got some key areas addressed early in the window. Can't wait for the proper stuff to start.

With Chelsea, City, arsenal, Liverpool, utd and Everton managers and fans being so confident of top 4 finishes before the start of the season - it's going to be very interesting to see who fails.

Although I was glad to get virtually anyone but Sherwood I was favouring FDB but from what I've read and seen since his appointment I'm very happy with Poch and optimistic that we are only going to improve under him. The tactics look good, the players seem up for it and have licence to show a bit of flair and he appears to shaping the squad nicely. When he's put everything in place I think we'll be a joy to watch finally after the slow, dour & depressing performances of the last couple of seasons.

I stand by my original opinion that we needed a 'proven' winner who would come in and earn instant respect. Poch for me is a huge gamble which could end up with us hitting the jackpot or be worse off hence falling even further behind the top sides.

Tbh I still can't get my head around the fact we never signed up LVG last winter when the opportunity arose. It was clear at the time he wanted to manage in England but after the WC. A deal should have been done for him to take over on them terms, but instead we showed faith in a total and utter prick giving him a 18 month contract. By the time we realised we had dropped a bollock the size of a elephant LVG had better options.....

I hope Poch does turn out to be our 'jackpot winning' manager but for now I'm staying pessimistic towards our chances under him. Preseason results mean the square route of sod all when the season starts for real.....

Can we make a stick thread for next pre-season along the lines of: "It's a run around to get players fit, the 'success or failure' of which has very little effect on the season"?

Time. Patience.

For the system Levy has implemented at the club we had to go for a head coach rather than a manager.

Pocho was the best option for us.

If we give him time and some money to spend he will do very well for us.
