How true - but I'm starting to have some small doubt about AVB. He seems to be over the place ATM, with the Loris concussion being one example.

Set up, in game management and playing the in crowd are the main problems, needs to phone a Louis van Gaal type for a chat, i nearly deleted this last bit thinking it was too flippant, but after a moments thought i actually think he needs some guidance.

Of course I can have an idea. I can compare what I am watching now with what I have have been watching for the last 20 years. And it is on this basis that I have formed my conclusion. It's not about knowing how many traffic cones teams are putting out on the training ground or what colours they are using on their white board, it's about watching the end product and making an informed deduction.

You think this chelsea with Hazard, Oscar, Mata, Willian is worse than the one with Benayoun, Malouda and Kalou ? or Spencer, Hughes and Stein ? Seriously bear, you say some funny shit.

You never saw a team managed by Dave Bassett did you ?

No but the one AVB is currently managing isn't going so well.
I read somewhere that AVB was the star of his class at coaching school but after his performances in recent weeks I can only surmise that the rest of the class was made up of a couple of knuckle draggers, dumb and dumber and the Chuckle Brothers.

Lots of people asking why Lamela didn't play. Just to make it clear I was upset but unsurprised that he didn't start but totally understand why he remained on the bench which was due more to circumstance that design. Kaboul had to replace an injured Vlad, while Sandro's introduction was essential following Dembele's inept first half performance. Equally, it was hardly shocking to see JD (mind, I am not his biggest fan) enter the fray while we were getting loads of the ball into the box...it was frustrating that he couldn't get on the end of the many chances we created and predictable that he managed to be caught offside more times that RS9 did the entire game.

Ideally, Vlad would of stayed on freeing up another sub - I am convinced AVB would of turned to Lennon first as we were getting space on both wings but perhaps the young Argentine would of been trusted to find the key.

U know ur screwed when u expect Defoe to score in the dying moments n miss Dempsey's tendency to score those odd goals

I said in the match thread that any manager who thinks bringing on Defoe to play alongside Soldado is the answer......................they obviously didn't understand the question.

He definitely seems pretty tetchy right now does AVB, not the cool level-headed persona he likes to emit.

What is concerning is that right now its not just one or two debatable selections he seems to be making, its more like 5+...

I had to watch this in a bar in Dublin. I haven't had any sleep for three nights. I was/am very hungover. I was severely outnumbered by a raucous crowd of Geordies who have been on a stag all weekend. We played shit, then better but couldn't score... Not sure which half was more frustrating to watch in that sense. Got pelters off aforementioned Geordies throughout. All 'enjoyed' with a massive fucking headache.

I am not happy.

The match was just pure deja vu. We have ball, other team defend resiliently. Keeper has a blinder, aided by some poor finishing. Problem is that we conceded a poor goal today and its Zero points instead of a draw.

The main concern is that AVB has seemingly gone full retard in his team selection. Right now I would trust Chirpy to pick a more balanced and well thought-out team than AVB serves up every week.

What is most worrying is that he still thinks he can get away with no holding midfielder, pigeon-holing Dembele and pairing him with Paulinho who gets free license to go wandering off up the park. It has to be one of Capoue/Sandro, paired with Dembele or Paulinho. Stop pratting around with this Andre, I beg ya.

Individual selections are just bizarre. They have all been listed from what I see. Some of these selections are getting scary now, if he thinks the likes of Sigurdsson and Defoe are good enough then something is very wrong.

Then we factor in the PR disaster of Lloris not being fit after all...

AVB needs to get a grip, not been a good week or so.

Friedel - Well what can you say? Not a lot to do but the one moment he is needed he just shows that he isn't Lloris.

Walker - *Insert generic Walker comments here*

Dawson - Shown up for pace a few times first half.

Chiriches - Did ok before injury.

Vertonghen - Cant recall him doing much.

Dembele - Disastrous.

Paulinho - Hardly any better. Disgraceful tackle for the goal. Abandons defensive responsibilities, wastes opportunities in and around the box. Must do better.

Eriksen - Tried, but... Should have scored.

Townsend - Talent is there but he and the coaches need to find a way to channel this into a role that will have effectiveness and output for the team.

Sigurdsson - I have said he is a weak, slow, average player for 14 months now. Still not changed my mind. Woeful, and I hope this signals a long spell in the reserves before a transfer in January.

Soldado - Did ok. Unlucky with the header. Another who should have scored though with other chances. Never going to come up with an individual piece of brilliance though, and I don't think his type fits the system we are trying to play. Defensive work could be much better. A conundrum.

Kaboul - Ok but should have buried that chance.

Sandro - Thought he did well.

Defoe - Something I don't want to have to say but its true. And call me a ****, neg me in record amounts, Do whatever, but... I'm finding it seriously hard to support him in a Spurs shirt. There I said it. A pointless sub that had the predictable outcome. An absolute waste of fucking space. Another who needs to go to the reserves (and preferably QPR's at that) ASAP.
Great post, sir!

No, I'm feeling the same way - couldn't bring myself to congratulate him overtaking a true Tottenham giant in Chivers and his verbal altercation with Vertonghen just confirms that he's just a petulant prick.

Sooner he's no longer an option for us, the better for all concerned.

Bollocks
First Lamela should have started.
He played against a park the bus team in midweek and destroyed it, should have had 2 penalties, only got one and scored and continually looked a threat in and around the box.
Jermain Defoe played against the same park the bus team and did the sum of fcuk all for 90 mins except scoring a penalty.
So who do play against another park the bus team? JD
So No i dont fcuking understand

I think the facade of last year with platitudes and non offensive interviews has slipped this season and is slowly regressing into the AVB of the Chelsea era.

I don't have a problem with this per se but as I said at the time, once you start to goad the fans then you're on a sticky wicket and he's not doing anything to dispel the growing amount of haters wrong.

Needs to take stock during this international break and come back with a fresh approach and exude a sense of calm that he is in control of the situation again.

To add to that, even criticising other managers and teams about how they approach things. He is definitely stumbling from one squabble to another right now, and I don't really see why.

Time to re-focus and think clearly about how this team pushes on and what has to be changed or tinkered with in order to do that.

You think a Newcastle team with Gouffron, Ameobi and Williamson is better than one with Ginola, Shearer and Albert?

Exactly the point. And another that will be ignored. You'll probably be asked a question about Dave Bassett though, that's what really counts.

For Dave Bassett read Martin Jol. It's all much of a muchness, the Arsenal team of Vieira and Petit? No thanks, give me Flamini and Arteta any day of the week.

It's indicative of a man under pressure to deliver and I wonder if it's not just us fans that aren't too enamoured with performances on the pitch as I wouldn't imagine Messrs Baldini and Levy are ecstatic in the stands either - especially after a summer splurge on serious talent, not least, Franco's favourite Lamela.

I love it when BC and Bear get all horny for each other

To be honest, I'm bored with it too, but I'd never put anyone on ignore in the same way I wouldn't give anyone a neg, but I'm bored with the notion of everything being set up to prove how hard life is for AVB. I've had the 'premier league is shite' conversation with at least 10 people today, not started by me either, and I just can't fathom how BC comes to his conclusion.

I agree with you. Two great examples recently used, by you, with teh Arsenal side of Petit and Viera, Legend10 with his Newcastle one. Fuck it, throw in Man Utds Treble winning side of '99 if you want.

I was only kidding with the post though!

Do we really want rid of AVB & Co?
Are we really that quick to pull the trigger?
