Guys , been lurking on here for a while and this is my first post...i work with a guy who used to work for Pini Zahavi and he still has good contacts with a few agents , one of them works a lot with Real...anyway the long and short of it is that RM have offered £25 million + a choice of 2 players one of which is Sahin ...2 issues with this , 1) Sahin's wages 2) DL wants straight cash...this is a stand off which could drag on for a while according to him and RM have agreed terms with LM and want him to push for the move....also got a shot of LM having lunch at the restaurant in Soho

Lol it's like that scene from 'Casino' where Joe Pesci covers his mouth from the FBI lip readers!

We can, but I don't think he wants to come to us.

That's what he said at first (according to the ITK's). Then at the weekend the ITK's were saying "Sahin won't take a pay cut to go to Tottenham"... So within the space of a few days, it went from "I won't move to Tottenham" to "I' won't take a pay cut to go to Tottenham).. Basically he's saying he wants a pay-rise.. Misfit & I were talking about him at the weekend, and I did a bit of looking around & discovered a site saying he was on anything between £60k & £80k per week. I asked Misfit if he thought we were rich enough for this, and he gave a very excited response that intimated we should not hesitate. However, HappySpur has come up with figures that suggest even less that what I found, and, based upon that, we could offer Sahin a £15k increase in wages, and still have room for future renegotiation of his contract.

Seems like the proverbial 'no brainer' to me??

The item I posted earlier said 2.5m Euros net. I'm no financial expert, and especially Spain, but that sounds like quite a lot. Approx 50k Euros per week after tax. You would need to double that at least?

Okay I think I found it. Sahin is on €2.5million at RM, which is €50k/w or currently around £2million, which would be £38k/w

So.....don't tell me we can't afford him. Hell we can give him a raise

And £25m + Sahin makes Modric over £40m. Real only got Sahin for cheap last year because of a buy-out clause in the final year of his contract.
Real pay their players after tax. So in English wages terms Sahin will be on considerably more than £38k/w.

I think your maths is a bit out. Sahin isn't valued at £15 million, he was bought for £6 million was it and sat on a bench all season. How is he now worth £15 million in your eyes?

Yeah mate I've since seen the other responses that were made whilst I was typing my novel to Gaz, and didn't realise the initial post about his wages was net. I'm no financial expert anyway, so wouldn't have a bloody clue what we'd need to pay him for him to be better off? But I believe Mr Levy can be very creative when it comes to adding bonus incentives to contracts. I'd like to think that, at the end of the day, the players desire to play will ultimately work in our favour. However, I'm not so stupid as to think that such a desire will outweigh any financial desires from any of todays pampered & spoilt sissy footballers.

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he's playing a waiting game. I also doubt he'd move from RM to us without finding out who our future attacking players are going to be.

Yep. What is Modric on? 70K. Easy for me to say this but paying Sahin 70K isn't something I'd consider unreasonable. He'd be worth that.

I used transfer markt's valuation of him as I didn't expect my valuation of him to be a fair metric. The value him at £16 million. My mentioning of his having a final year buy-out clause is probably why Real Madrid got him at €10m.

Yes, besides we won't be paying a lot for him. If the quoted transfer fees are correct then we'd be paying 35-25=10 million for him. I think with a relatively low transfer fee we can afford to pay him whatever Luka was paid.

I'm very glad Dear Leader isn't one to throw money around, but when replacing the heartbeat of our team I don't think we should be haggling over a few pounds/week.

As it stands, Real Madrid have 24 players in their 25 man squad, plus a player has returned from loan and I don't know if they promote youth into the squad or if they're U21 they don't take a squad place like here. So if Madrid don't shift anyone, they can only sign Modric. I don't know much about Spanish football so does anyone know if they're looking to sign other players? Even so it leaves them a bit limited if they want to sign players later on in the window. Therefore surely they would be looking to shift someone like Sahin (and Carvalho) considering Modric will be first team, Sahin only played 10 games last season and is going to play less this year, I don't see why on earth he wants to stay?

I would assume that as their Real Madrid Castilla (B team) won promotion to the Segunda Liga that many of their "youth" players will be staying in the B team to get a full season of games or sold with buy back clauses, like Dani Carvajal to Leverkusen for 8m. But there is talk that Alvaro Morata will be promoted as back up to Ronaldo. We should also bear in mind that they have already sold Hamit Altintop and the loan player that has returned (Gago) is close to moving to Valencia.

The Real ITK are saying that if they sign Modric they will probably be selling Kaka as he has never fully regained his AC Milan form, but does provide huge shirt/sponsor revenue

And replacing him with an incredibly capable young player who we otherwise might not have a sniff of in the open market.

Still, enough of Sahin from me. As it stands right now, the player himself isn't interested. I hope that changes over the next few weeks but until it/if it does, we're just whistling.
