Okay I think I found it. Sahin is on €2.5million at RM, which is €50k/w or currently around £2million, which would be £38k/w

So.....don't tell me we can't afford him. Hell we can give him a raise

we will find a reason dont worry! besides we have jenas..

But if indeed Sahin was the player JJ was on about then is that deal now dead in the water?

One would imagine the other player involved is Carvalho so £25million plus these two, if salaries are reasonable, sounds like the best solution to me.

I understand that was light hearted, but it was reported that the last time (granted a few years ago) that JJ's wages had been increased to £22k pw. I think perceived and actual figures are often quite a way apart.

JJ was probably talking about Kaka or Higuain. Sahin is only world class to those of us watched him in the Bundesliga. And trust me, if he comes, he will be on the back of everybody's shirt come next summer's shirt release.

As it stands, Real Madrid have 24 players in their 25 man squad, plus a player has returned from loan and I don't know if they promote youth into the squad or if they're U21 they don't take a squad place like here. So if Madrid don't shift anyone, they can only sign Modric. I don't know much about Spanish football so does anyone know if they're looking to sign other players? Even so it leaves them a bit limited if they want to sign players later on in the window. Therefore surely they would be looking to shift someone like Sahin (and Carvalho) considering Modric will be first team, Sahin only played 10 games last season and is going to play less this year, I don't see why on earth he wants to stay?

tbh I think it'm more like he does not want to join us than us being unable to afford his wages.....

If Sahin's wages are on a level with other RM players, then this is a probably a non-runner unless RM are agreeing to subsidise Sahin's wages until the end of his contract with them (and even then its a problem at the end of Sahin's contract wioth Spurs as he will want to maintain similar money which we would not be prepared to do.

IMO the message given to Modric should/will be - if you want to go to RM, fine but they need to pay the full amount, and that is (say) £40m. If they want to sell us a player we will negotiate that separately
the worry here is that RM are masters at tapping up players and getting what they want...and we all know that DL loves a bit of brinkmanship ....so we could get a "Berbatov -type " situation here where the player wnats out but RM refuse to pay the asking price etc....a bit worrying if you ask me

But therein lies my point - we still don't know for certain who JJ was referring to and it just seems too unrealistic to be either Kaka or Higuain.

Sahin does seem like a good fit though but doesn't he have a poor injury record?

Well people has asked his wages and I found it.

But he would want to come if we made him feel wanted, which we haven't. So incompetence is going to cost us a player that is much better than Moutinho or Oscar.

Its been reported that Jose wants Luka, a right back and a right winger (dribbler) as back up to Di Maria.

They wanted Lucas Moura but baulked at the asking price.
