Huge match for us. We actually played well despite the result last week. Getting the 3 points is crucial though. Remember that the press is just waiting for AVB to come under any sort of pressure so they can twist the knife.

Gone are the days of 'Arry and all the journos being 100% positive about us. Nothing would please them more than AVB struggling so they can say we should have got moyes etc.

COME ON YOU SPURS!

Yeah, unfortunately. Hope it's not an injury which could keep him out for a while. I <3 Younes. I genuinely think he was the second best CB in the league last season.

Yeah, fingers crossed for Kaboom!!, would be a big loss if he was out for a month or two :(

Looking on the bright-side though, it will give Vert the chance to the experience the English game, which to be fair, is a bit of a step up on the Dutch League (not knocking) and after the drawn out transfer saga, it would actually be nice to see him play.

I think he was on the bench for the Newcastle game because of being on international duty in the midweek. Vertonghen will have a huge part to play for us this season.

He and Kaboul should be our first choice pairing for some time to come! They should be a perfect fit as a pairing. Vertonghen all class and skill on the ball - Kaboul all power and strength and good in the air. Good mix!

Agree but I think eventually caulker will be right in the mix for first choice.

Maybe we should have and maybe that's why we are under such pressure. Personally I think people are investing an awful lot of trust in AVB when quite honestly he is still learning his trade, I'm happy to give him the time but mark my words there will be lots of downs this season so we need to prepare ourselves.
You are right though this is a huge match today, I want a win I just wish I was confident of one.

As long as we take our chances we will get the result today, another game where an early goal is critical. Avb despite being pretty well taken to has still got his critics and needs to get the home crowd on board.

West brom will give up chances but we need to take them unlike against Newcastle

Anyone think that Vertonghen may be used at left back this season? God a feeling AVB isn't too sure about Benny.

Dafoe will start, with vertonghen the only change... Defoe did enough last week.

Big test of the high line today - WBA will sit deep and hit us on the break - they destroyed liverpools high line last week

This is why Brendan Rodgers and to a lesser extent our own AVB will need time to get us playing they way they want.

I can see 433 advantages, but still do not seen the overriding benefit of a high line. Yes it allows quicker pressing but it leaves teams vulnerably. Barca have lost important games due to too higher line. Real seam to have compromised on this line with better overall results.

I wonder whether we will see the Sig as one of the 2 central midfielders
