Defoe has looked sharp and got two in two! ade is lacking match fitness.

Originally I was hoping Scotty would miss the first few games so Sandro could secure his position. But now I realize how foolish that was... we NEED both of them.

First home game....cant wait.
Glad i hedged my bets with a Norwich ticket as well to welcome the new signings;)

You will probably be disappointed next week as well mate, the new signings will only be signed a minute from midnight Friday. Far too late for the Norwich game registration.

I think this would be the lineup, except maybe Gallas in for Caulker. Also think Ade either starts and gets subbed around the hour mark or will come off the bench at the hour mark.

I just really hope we won't be starting with Livermore playing holding mid together with Sandro. Would make no sense at home vs a weaker side like WBA. I realise they have plenty of attacking threat, but we really need the creativity that a player like VDV can provide us with.
If Sandro does the defensive part of the midfield job that should leave VDV with the creative part. Let's just hope he won't have to do too much defending. :)
My team, like many others also have proposed;
Friedel
Walker - Gallas - Vertonghen - BAE
Sandro - VDV
Lennon - Sigurdsson - Bale
Defoe
My reason for wanting Defoe to start is simply that I am unsure of Adebayors fitness level. I'm sure Ade will start if he's deemed fit, but otherwise I'd like him to come on around the hour mark. Really looking forward to the match. COYS!

This. Would love to see how a sandro-vdv-siggy midfield would get on. Should be enough at home as long as vdv and siggy work hard off the ball.

It's either Sig or VDV for me and wouldn't be surprised to see Defoe and Ade start.

They are really quite different though. Vdv is more cultured and more likely to be a creative spark. I still like the idea of Sig being an inside to outside guy because he really does have an excellent whipped ball as well as being a goal threat.

Much the same line up against Newcastle me thinks, maybe with a few changes.

Friedel
Walker - Kaboom - Vertonghen - BAE
Sandro - Livermore
Sigurdsson
Lennon ------ Ade ------ Bale

Expect to see verts play if not then i'm just going give up for this season. Heading off to the lane about 11:00 but without my usual 1st home game excitement just hoping we don't lose i need something to feed my soul, i need to get some optimism back.

I think Sig and Bale have a good understanding already. Sig has more energy than VDV who may be used as a sub more often than we would expect.

I don't think Rafa or Gylfi can do the deeper CM job. Rafa hasn't got the legs and can't tackle (as was seen in a costly manner last week) and Gylfi's tackling stats were CRAP last year too. Both better players when they have less of a defensive responsibility.

Therefore we've gotta pick Sandro and Livermore if you ask me

I think this is how we'll start. Straight swaps Jan for Kaboom and Ade for Defoe.
