I think Townsend might get the nod over Lamela, and Stambouli or Dembele might get in ahead of Mason.

Hoping Poch doesnt decide to put Soldado in, we need to start building a partnership between Kane and Eriksen.

Buzzing for the match, COYS!

The common ground between the Everton and Newcastle matches was not really the quality of our play, it was the tactics adopted by the opponents. They came to play football and we outplayed both. Swansea also tried to outplay us and often did, but we have more quality, so we were able to score 2 goals.
Crystal Palace, by contrast, played to stifle us and counter-attack and the result was the same dross we've been watching all season (and most of last season). Before we can seriously trouble the top of the table, we have to transfer the ruthlessness, quick thinking, change of pace and constructive movement that we saw against Everton and Newcastle into games where the opposition sets itself out to frustrate us.
Totally agree. Width, pace and 2 proper strikers is the way to deal with the bus parkers.

I honestly believe the reason we couldn't break Palace down was because of Poch's tactics. He left it way too late to introduce pace when it was clear we couldn't carve a way through them.

If it doesn't work today, we need to have a plan B sooner than Palace. This is why I'm glad Walker is back, it gives us that injection of pace and width when Lennon isn't playing.

I think we will have learnt from the Palace game. An earlly goal to bring them out would be great, and then get behind them.

We have the quality to beat them but that quality turning up is another story. Hopefully it will. 3 1 Spurs

Yep, again and again, a fast start. Dynamism, electricity, elan.

The common ground between the Everton and Newcastle matches was not really the quality of our play, it was the tactics adopted by the opponents. Everton, because they reckoned they are as good as we are, and Newcastle, because it was a cup match and they had to win, did not pack 10-11 men into the centre of their half and dare us to pick our way through them. They came to play football and we outplayed both. Swansea also tried to outplay us and often did, but we have more quality, so we were able to score 2 goals. Chelsea tried to outplay us and, although we showed some very good football in 3 minute flashes, they have more quality, so they scored 3 goals.

Crystal Palace, by contrast, played to stifle us and counter-attack and the result was the same dross we've been watching all season (and most of last season). So please bear with me if I do not detect a 'shift in momentum' or a 'corner being turned' quite yet. Before we can seriously trouble the top of the table, we have to transfer the ruthlessness, quick thinking, change of pace and constructive movement that we saw against Everton and Newcastle into games where the opposition sets itself out to frustrate us. That makes today's match a significant test. I'm not sure whether Leicester will try that at home, but I expect that Burnley will try it away. If we can find space and score goals against that kind of opposition, then we can say we are making real progress.

Yes all of this .....AND we have to accept that there are teams' bigger' than us where it is suicidally naive to just go there and attempt to outplay them . We require this stifle/counterattacking Plan B that so many clubs find yields points when they go to a team with a clearly more talented team . We require this for the lottery winner sides for example .

We could also do with the two teams from Liverpool doing us a favour..
The better team Everton could beat Southampton and the other lesser team might have a chance at beating or holding Arsenal to a draw. ;) We could find ourselves in fifth by the end of tomorrow, which would be pretty impressive given all the issues we've been working through as a team.
Yes and then we do the Spursy and lose to Burnley

Lennon should play for that reason. He gets a hard time from a lot on here but he does worry defenders with his jinking runs.
If he did these runs I am sure that he would be the first on the tem sheet but unfortunately he hasnt been doing it enough any more. He seems to have lost that knack of beating his man while running at speed. My opinion

Yep but Walker is back now.

Apart from the occasional cluster.fuck this player is quality and makes us so much better as a team.

Adds so much really.

I expect a good Spurs win (famous last words!!).

Not quite sure how Lamela does it, but I'm pretty happy with that. Looking forward to seeing Cladli, Eriksen and Kane link up.
