First of all, it is about the team, not any individual player.

Kane has the ability to play behind a front man and still scores. In the final few games last season, he had found it more difficult to score, as he was well marked. With someone like Benteke on board, the oppositions will have more to think about. The problem: who would have to drop out. My guess would be Lamela.

Im not saying we ont need another stiker, Im sayign we need one that wont cost us probably all our transfer budget. Kane needs compitition. I would much rather we spent money where we needed to i.e. some flair and creativity in the middle of the park thats where are play lacked so badly last season, there is no one in there with the vision to make us tick.

Sherwood does really like Ade, but surely he must rate Benteke higher and would rather fight to keep him?
Not necessarily. On his day, Ade is arguably better than Benteke. And Sherwood managed to get quite a few good days out of Ade.

For Villa, £30 million-ish would be a decent return on swapping a better player who wants to play for Sherwood with a lesser player who doesn't.

The way things are going, I think, MoPo will push Lamela further up or maybe Chadli, hence why we have been in the market and gossip for a attacking winger.
Sadly, I just don't think ENIC operates like that in the transfer market, i.e. filling holes in the team with suitable players.

Our transfer strategy is basically - are they a bargain? If so, buy them, regardless of what position they play. Which is why we end up with silly numbers of players in the same position while glaring squad deficiencies remain unaddressed.

lacazette is available for 21 million, if we are serious about spending 20-30 mill on a striker theres no one better then him, imo lacazette and kane will be formidable and he can occassionaly be on the wings aswell

Didn't Levy say our transfer policy would be to buy younger, cheaper players with potential?

Problem
I don't think this will happen as Benteke is still pissed off with us/Levy for letting him down in 2013 when he thought we wanted him for 25m but did not follow through with the transfer. If true then I can't really fault him. Anyway like WhiteHeartLowe says is he really worth 32m?

Problem is the market talks and while villa are trying to put off bids with this valuation he represents quality striker. However mute point as I don't see us paying that fee.
we need another quality striker to take the onus off kane. Beyond his goals last season relying on chadli and Eriksson to pick up the slack isn't the plan b. If we stay with same strikers next season we will drop back into the pack

We dont play with 2 up top, he is nto what we need IMO. Please stop with this "stick Kane behind him BS" we have a young, English, Spurs fan with his break throguh season playing as an out and out striker, competing for the golden boot right to the end.

Now some want to shift his position to accomadate a striker who came no where near Kanes goal scoring record in 2 seasons where injuies and forma have caused him problems.

If we didnt have Kane I would be intrested but not at anywhere near the amount being mentioned, its a no from me.

Perhaps we never play two up front because our alternatives are a guy who can't hit a cow's arse with a Banjo and a nutter.

Perhaps being able to play two up top might help us win games against the likes of Stoke next season?

Perhaps having a second top class striker (let alone a third or fourth) might come in handy if (a) Kane gets injured or (b) Kane gets tired playing 60 games a season or (c) Kane finds the second season not as easy as the first?

The idea that we have no room for a second quality striker (whether you think Benteke is that or not) is absolutely mad.
