I think they can as long as Kane plays behind Benteke.

Benteke can play upfront by himself and so can Kane.

IMO Benteke cannot play behind the striker. Others may have a different more informed view.

Question is does he suit the rest of our system? I'm not so sure. I don't expect Kane to score as many this year ( hope I'm wrong ) and we need cover and options that are quality .

Yes they can play together.

Kane is a goal score and a very clever player he can see a pass and execute it...I laughed when he was paired with Ings who was asked to drop off as soon as Kane started dropping off he put a through ball into Ings.
Like Henry Percy says Kane is smart enough to drop off, just like Sheringham did for Spurs where Benteke is a all out No.9 also both can play soley as alone strikers.

Benteke or Berahino will be great imo.

Desperately trying to make a story here aren't they! Although for once its not complete BS from this disgusting rag. Sherwood does really like Ade, but surely he must rate Benteke higher and would rather fight to keep him?

I don't see us buying a striker in the £15-£25 million bracket. That type of striker would expect to start. Kane after last season would (rightly) expect to start. Two into one doesn't go, that's why the striker we sign would need to either be willing to share plYing time (Cup games), be someone who can play in a couple of positions, or a young player.

It's a shame we cant get Soldado firing cos I think he'd share playing time without causing a fuss. Other than that we are looking for unproven young strikers I reckon.

It's pretty simple really. No one should ever expect to start, that's when players start to become lazy / dip in form. Two quality strikers would provide the competition required to keep them both on their toes and keep them performing at the top of their game as they would know if they aren't playing well (or even training well) there is a top quality striker on the bench waiting his turn to prove himself. IMO it's the best move we can do to keep harry progressing the way he is.

More than just "can" they play together; I think Kane would thrive with Benteke next to him.

Next season Kane, if playing alone up front, is going to find himself marked by the best, if not both, of the Centre Halves. He is going to have the defensive midfielder filling the gaps he likes to run into. In short, he is going to be focussed on in a way that he only started to experience (and struggle with) at the end of this Season.

Benteke next to him would not only provide an alternative problem for the defending side; he would positively break up their defence for Kane to run into. He wins everything in the air and drags defenders all over he place. He also holds the ball up well.

Kane is at least as much Sheringham as Shearer. He will thrive if he has a foil to work off. And Benteke, even on a bad day (and he has plenty), is still a great foil.

We dont play with 2 up top, he is nto what we need IMO. Please stop with this "stick Kane behind him BS" we have a young, English, Spurs fan with his break throguh season playing as an out and out striker, competing for the golden boot right to the end.

Now some want to shift his position to accomadate a striker who came no where near Kanes goal scoring record in 2 seasons where injuies and forma have caused him problems.

If we didnt have Kane I would be intrested but not at anywhere near the amount being mentioned, its a no from me.

Its all about having options. The more the better I think it'll will benefit Kane as well , having competition for the lone role being able to have a partnership...imo It's win win for Spurs.

re he needs compitition just not over £20M quids worth, we need a proper goal scoring option out wide who could also play up front. IMO Poch should be sayng to Kane "you my guy, go do what yo did last season only do it better" signing another player, who really doesnt bring much more (bar a little more pace) than Kane already has doesnt do that.

Don't see this happening to be honest. And I personally don't think we will buy a striker in this transfer window. If we do, it will probably be a young striker, maybe someone like berenio from WBA. ( But I doubt it will be him)

The way things are going, I think, MoPo will push Lamela further up or maybe Chadli, hence why we have been in the market and gossip for a attacking winger.

Off course I hope we do get a decent striker but with the likes of ADE and Soldado still on our books, I just don't see it happening.

Benteke makes no sense but we do need someone to cover for Kane.
Of those available, who would be prepared to play in the Europa Cup and be ready to deputise if Kane is suspended / injured, I think Austin is the best option

I don't think this will happen as Benteke is still pissed off with us/Levy for letting him down in 2013 when he thought we wanted him for 25m but did not follow through with the transfer. If true then I can't really fault him. Anyway like WhiteHeartLowe says is he really worth 32m?

First of all, it is about the team, not any individual player.

Kane has the ability to play behind a front man and still scores. In the final few games last season, he had found it more difficult to score, as he was well marked. With someone like Benteke on board, the oppositions will have more to think about. The problem: who would have to drop out. My guess would be Lamela.

Whats also very important we need more fire power to choose from, players with a scoring background background, we've only got within our squad have imo Kane Eriksen Chadli Rose Adebayor .

Lamela Townsend Mason Bentaleb and one of our CB'S need to up their tally.
