Bumping this thread back to life as the season is about to start. What are people listening to in terms of any football related podcast?
Football Ramble - by far the best IMO
Extra Inch - I enjoy the tactics and insight on certain players from Nathan, Windy is ok at times.
The Peter Crouch podcast - I found it funny and really enjoy the guests they have. The Mike Dean episode was great.
Totally Football Show - Listen when nothing else is on
One pod I do not understand how people like, The Last Word on Spurs. Does anyone here listen to it? Ricky's voice is so annoying, he's always yelling. On Twitter they are awful, constantly talking about their ratings and are very clickbaiting.
The Ramble’s by far better than any other football podcast, IMO. Great balance of humor with actual football talk and the additions they’ve made to the original 4 fit really well. One of the newest additions, Kate Mason, is a Spurs fan as well.Bumping this thread back to life as the season is about to start. How is View from the Lane? I like the articles on the Athletic about Tottenham and I believe the podcast is the authors, correct? Is it more just a show about the articles or do they offer more? David Ornstein's pod is basically a summary of his articles it seems like.In general Ramble and Totally.
Spurs: Extra Inch, View from the Lane (Athletic), Spurs Show occasionally.

Still listen to it just not as much as I used to. Same with the extra inch.No one bothering with The Fighting Cock now then?
They do discuss or preview articles but it's more a general conversation about topics. James Maw is a Spurs fan so they go to him for the fan view.
Generally informative and good humoured.
JPB talked about his chat with Dier this week.

Agree re extra inch, but i still listen as they're still smart. Just annoys me when they pretend that modern corporate management techniques would work on young men. Have they ever hung out with footballers?I like the fighting cock. Used to really enjoy the extra inch as well, but lately that’s just become windy’s and Nathan’s anti Mourinho show.
Only listen to FC if there’s a interesting guest on like the trust last week.I like the fighting cock. Used to really enjoy the extra inch as well, but lately that’s just become windy’s and Nathan’s anti Mourinho show.
Great post and agree with pretty much everything.Okay, as you can tell from below, I listen to a lot of football podcasts! I might be a touch critical of some in my assessments below, but believe me, I do genuinely enjoy most.
- The Extra Inch - Excellent listen most of the time with interesting, well-researched insights. However, they can occasional come across as a little haughty in their analysis, and rarely deviate from their embedded assertions on certain players/managers. But overall, it’s a great show.
- The Fighting Cock - Easy and enjoyable listening, although the humour can be a little juvenile. Still, they don’t take themselves too seriously and Flav is a charismatic presenter. Spooky, T, and Bardi are all knowledgeable guys, too.
- The Spurs Show - Almost zero insight and half the show is plugs for live shows/guest books, gigs/local stores. Hardly put it on anymore.
- Last Word on Spurs - Admittedly, I’ve only listened to one episode; their recent one with Romano the ITK fella. Ricky came across just how I imagined he would, so I won’t be listening again.
- The View From The Lane - Okay enough if you don’t mind incessant Athletic/shaving/beer plugs. For guys who are seemingly more privy than most on events at Spurs, it’s surprisingly bland. Pitt-Brooke isn’t the most engaging of presenters.
——————————————————
- ESPN FC - Empty vessels makes the loudest noise. Don’t mind the Marcotti/Laurens show, though, and Sid Lowe is a very knowledgable pundit.
- Football Ramble - Sometimes maybe good, some maybe... average. Some of the humour feels a little forced, but a pretty good listen mostly. Andy Brassell is a brilliant contributor.
- The Athletic/Tifo/Zonal Marking - Tifo’s Youtube content is superb, and their pods are very decent even if they don’t reach the heights of their videos. Like some other pods though, there is a hint of snobbishness at times. Zonal Marking had a great series during the summer, revisiting old games. Well worth checking out.
- Total Football Show - James Richardson is still the best around. Consistently delivers good shows, and their Golazzo pod is one of the best football programmes out there.
- BBC: Football Daily/606/European Football Show - Solid content from the BBC. Sutton on 606 is brilliantly pedantic, but Ballague often gets found out on the European Show. Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman are quality presenters, and Pat Nevin always provides high-level contributions.
- Guardian Football Weekly - Feared for it after Richardson left, but Rushden comes across well with his self-effacing style. His rapport with Barry is great. I don’t agree with a lot of Barry’s football observations, but I love his genuine dourness and disdain, particularly for clubs like PSG & City. Liew, Ronay, Auclair, and Wilson are all class.
- The Game (The Times) - Decent enough listen, although some way off The Guardian. Gregor Robertson is relatively new to the show and has impressed.
- The World Football Phone-In - The original and one of the best. Dotun is still as enthusiastic as ever, even if some of his dad jokes don’t hit the mark. Tim Vickery is in a class of his own, and they have some fantastic contributors from around the world, particularly in Mina Rzouki & the mighty Mark Gleeson.
(I should have taken more notice of the title of this thread! Apologies for including the more general football pods. I’ve separated them from the Spurs related ones, but I’m happy to remove them if you’d like me to)
