Is Conte confirmed to be the next manager? I could not find any official confirmation .

Tottenham Hotspur: Alasdair Gold drops behind-scenes Nuno claim
Discussing his behind-the-scenes knowledge of the rumblings around the training ground regarding Espirito Santo’s time at the club, Gold had the following to say on how the players viewed the 47-year-old.

“Some of these players, you know, some of them have just been kind of labouring along, not winning anything in their careers and whingeing about training and things.

“I’ve heard indirectly from people around players, [they are] whingeing about how tough training sessions have been, how too easy training sessions have been, how training sessions have got stale and stuff like that. And it’s just like, oh come on. Just do what you got to do.”

If what AG says is true, whoever is the next manager will not get anywhere unless this group of players are sorted out .

I'm really intrigued to see what tactical set up he goes with at first and how he develops it.

At Chelsea he stated with a 4-3-3 but shifted to 3-4-3. And of course at Inter he used a 3-5-2.

But the positive thing is that this is a coach who has a plan. He'll know what set up to apply.

I do think fans get a bit too attached to formations and what style of play that insinuates. But Conte has his principles and that is to play fast, be aggressive, compact, lots of movement and ensuring players are joining the attack.

He needs to be given time to get it right though. It’s not going to happen day one. It could take a couple of months before he gets us really playing. Let’s not forget these players have had years of negative football either since peak Poch or since they’ve been signed. Both them and the manager will need some patience to get this right.

That's the problem; now the hard work starts and Levy/Paratici will really have to help Conte shift the lazy and disruptive ones.

I'm really happy with the appointment, but we've been in good positions before, only to mess it up, so I'm going to be cautiously optimistic this time.

Come on Levy you lunatic; smash this one out of the park!

Gotta be up there with Klinsmann as one of the biggest signings in our history?

Conte is one of the top 3 managers in the world.

I was just thinking this. Conte is a massive coup and will give everyone - fans, players, staff - a massive lift.

Just goes to show what you can achieve if you put your mind to it.....a new manager in less than 24 hours why did it take 6 - 8 weeks to get a poor replacement whom we sacked 4 months later?
Cause Daniel Levy had a more hands on roll in the first one and Paratici did the second one and not have his hands tied behind his back half the time

Do we have too many wide forward players on our books for a 3-5-2

could there be an irony about the booing of the Moura substitution and him now actually being surplus to requirements

Still can’t quite believe it. Surely this must have been on the cards for some time? Or did Don Fabio sew this up in 48 hours?

Anyway, my local team IFK Värnamo, a town just shy of 20,000 inhabitants, got promoted to Allsvenskan (Highest division in Sweden) tonight. Unbelievable really. Just like Conte to Spurs.

Happy days.

I was saying to my pals earlier today that the NLD was enough for me to see that it wasn't going to work out, and wanted him sacked after that. I know that sounds very reactionary, but it just showed he didn't fully get the club.
Totally agree, worryingly that performance also told us a lot about the state of the mentality of the current squad. Even the poorest Spurs sides of the 90’s at least showed some fight when taking on a far superior Arsenal side, but this lot showed nothing for the shirt that day. Maybe that’s just a sad indictment of the modern day footballer, but credit the scum where it’s due, even when we’ve been far stronger than them in recent history they’ve never rolled over for us in a NLD like we did in that match.
Conte is the right man for the job (in my opinion) but boy has he got his work cut out with this lot. Let’s hope he works his magic

Why other than the money does Conte want the Spurs job ? We all know he and Levy is not a match made in heaven. So how can it possibly work ?

Lol. I'll say it again. Had FP got his way last time Gattusso would have gotten the job, and the Nuno appointment was ALL him.

He may well of redeemed himself here but he's nowhere near blameless for what happened in the Summer.

Levy didn't want Nuno, so let's not rewrite history here. They were both to blame for the Summers catastrophic manager hunt.

I would've loved the fallout of Gattusso after that Man U match, he probably would've pulled a Dier, gone into the stands, headbutt a kid flip off the crowd and RKO Kane for not giving a fuck then refuse to resign so he gets paid out

Actually, I feel that we have a squad of players who can play the 3-5-2 very well, and that includes the likes of Moura, Gil & Bergwijn. At Inter, Conte utilised Ivan Perisic in a similar role, so I don't honestly think they'll become surplus & Moura less so, as he does have an engine. Wingbacks exist as a support or attacking option, with defensive duties less than full-backs. We are stacked in the area of wingbacks when you look at Reggie, Royal, Doherty, Sess, and Moura, Gil & Bergwijn. With the latter 3 mentioned, I'd assume there will be an element of transition in a wing-back role, but it isn't beyond their means in my opinion.

Funnily enough, some of these players deserve a lunatic like Gatusso to get them to start trying. I’m kind of disappointed we didn’t have him here in the summer. I’m sure a few of the squad would’ve opted to move on rather than to stay an “fight” for their places (in the loosest possible sense)

Serious question , based on the last four years, how does this said give you that confidence?

yep we got a new manager, but we still got the same shit on the pitch that Let Poch down, let Jose down and have been utter dogshit under Nuno…

Personally, I won’t be getting carried away about how good our squad is after the last four years

Didn't he play 3-4-3 at Chelsea?

No excuses for the players now. Finally there is nowhere for them to hide, no more downing tools and throwing yet another manager under the bus. They will be working with one of the top 3/5 coaches in world football in his prime; if they don’t want to listen/improve/play under him, then they need to ask themselves whether they even want to play football at all.

Remember Mourinho said that there are problems that NO coach can sort out. I suspect that some players need to leave to sort this. Let’s see.
