Sanchez - Romero - Tanganga for me. Strongest and most aggressive defence in the league with those three.
Tbh I'd be absolutely shocked if it wont be Romero - Dier - Sanchez. Particularly as Conte plays a relatively deep line.

We know Conte isn’t going to sing the same “this squad is actually quite good” song we’ve heard from the last two, so we can be thankful for that at least!

For once hopefully the stars aligned for us, it's normally not Spurs who benefit from situations like we look to have done in Saturday's defeat. It would normally be typical Spurs to have beaten United on Saturday, they sack Ole and hire Conte and go on to win the title next season.

And we trod along with Nuno until January before realising our mistake and hire another second rate coach.

United fans are fuming if we get Conte, which just shows how important Saturday's loss could be in our fortunes moving forward.

Playing wing back for Conte is a completely different position than playing in a back 4. It should suit reguillon very well. Look, it's about systems, how players play is really dependent on that. Conte will play a back three like it or not.
The Reggie of old maybe (Sevilla). I'm not sure he's taken a single player on in his entire time at Spurs.

I can't quite believe that this might actually happen. I was convinced it'd be Mason until the end of the season.

Obviously nothing done but a LOT of noise now!

I could actually see a Potter-like appointment working after the Contenado comes in and decimates our squad, flensing it of all the useless ****s that have been stinking up the joint for years now. We need a complete bastard to come in and cut this squad to pieces, leaving only the best bits. Then, when he buggers off, a Potter can come in with strong foundations and build the project. To do it now would fail as the squad still has a rotten core that needs exorcising.

Youre right but 18 months? it still very short termist.

Id rather Potter now and five year contract and we know where we stand and what we are trying to build.

Having said that whilst the last four months has been a complete waste of time, i commend Levy and Paratici if we get Conte and go for it for 18 months.

I've always thought that I were up to date on managers and players around the world, but Gallardo is a name that has passed me by quietly. Why is he mentioned around Twitter lately?

While his style of play isn't the style many of us love, there is much to love about this appointment even if it is short term. Assuming he is successful, the following outcomes are likely:
  • Improvement in player mentality (and this is as important as any)
  • Significant increase in physical output
  • Improved off the ball play
  • Shifting of deadwood that can't cut it. And i suspect we will be surprised by some of the players who do thrive under him.
  • Movement up the table in the short term strictly to getting more out of the existing players
  • Markedly increases the odds of a top 4 finish this year especially if we upgrade a couple players in January.
  • Investment in upgraded players
  • Raise the prestige of coaching Spurs increasing the likelihood of us picking up a Potter, ETH if and when he leaves
  • Improved marketability in terms of sponsorship money
The more i think about it, the better this appointment becomes because it increases the likelihood of Spurs creating sustainable success even if it isn't a full return to our roots. But it does get us closer.

I hear you. I'd rather we had gone all out for Potter in the summer, but even if Conte does sign and only lasts 18months (I think he'll get the extension), that's at the very least 3 transfer windows + a summer to refit the squad ahead of a project. That suits me.
