It looks like Kalvin Phillips combined premier league minutes last season was 290 - less than 5 game’s worth. He sat on the bench for nearly 2000 minutes. This season he’s played 6 minutes in the league.

It’s like Southgate is trolling us.

What was Rice doing there FFS ?
Rice looks like a more mobile version of Maguire. I understand he used to be a centre back when he was younger and that's where he should play for England. He's no Pirlo and the less said about Phillips on current form/condition the better.

As annoying as it sounds… it is good seeing Kane play again

don’t understand how you can disagree with this but each to their own 🤷‍♂️

Really not sure how Maddison isn’t in over Philips here. Similar to be said for Saka over Foden

Rotating Foden in for Saka for a friendly is fine. Still refusing to even try a more progressive midfield isn’t. He’s such a coward - I think he won’t pick Rice/Bellingham/Maddison in case it works and then he’s under pressure to do it when it matters

It should be one defensive midfielder plus Bellingham and Foden or Maddison. Foden should be able to be coached to play there but Southgate can't really coach. Bit pointless Foden just covering for Saka. Sterling's still more useful than Rashford and is TTA really injured. It's all too slow and with out enough craft and flair. Not a surprise given the current coaching set up.

I have only just switched on but I just don't get the premise of having him in the team just makes a mockery of players actually playing in the Premier league.

It is saying that it doesn't matter if you are doing really well, Phillips is getting ahead of you as he has played in a major tournament.

I dont have anything against Phillips but it is massively wrong for him to be in the squad let alone winning another cap at someone else's expense.

It might be the right way to go. Scotland are playing this at 110% and will tirem then you bring in the quick players and Madison who will get the freekicks and go past people.
