Given the FA's previous at that time I think they'd have paid it; IIRC the main reason/s HR didn't get the England job was Harry's tax issues (albeit I think I remember the club helping him out with some very good legal eagles which Redknapp basically threw back in the clubs face by flirting with the FA whilst we were in the title hunt.
The other reason was one Trevor Brooking vetoing HR's appointment.

Anyway for some reason I can see the FA going for Potter after Southgate if he's not got a club by then.
