I've been saying that for years; have a "domestic season" and an "international season" it'd improve international tournaments no end. Give's managers far longer with their squads and teams less playing like a bunch of strangers.

Have your friendlies to whittle your squad down, then have your qualifiers after which you have lose say another five of your squad have a week or two off then go straight into knock out tournaments (have larger brackets so instead of groups then last 32 or 48 whatever) or if you stick with group stages make it 4 points for winning, 1 point for a draw, 2 points for score draw (so you do away with those dull matches)

I dunno anything that shakes it up a bit, give the total underdogs a proper chance to knock someone out so they're not just happy to be there.

Sounds great for armchair fans, but like a nightmare for match going fans and players.

Class kit but for the very visible EE logo on Kane's undershirt.

This should be the real kit, not just a one off.

Yeah I’d just not noticed it until he started being plastered all over the place with his crying athletic interview lol.

I have also always thought he was shit and overrated though. :playful:

I don't mind having Henderson in the squad, he's at least playing football every week still. I'd not have him starting though, only coming on to help us hold on to a lead like we do with bringing Hojbjerg on the stabilise things.

Southgate is a very uninspiring coach. The football is usually quite dull, but we have individual players to win games. We keep it safe, but don't have a clue how to really go at an opponent. I think most fans just want to see us come out with 5 attacking players on the field, with the aim of carving teams open and scoring 3-4 goals. Southgate just needs to win however, so a 1-0 is just fine no matter how eye bleedingly poor the football is.

By the looks of things they're not even wearing it during the game, only before.

On the radio last night they made a point about Henderson and the squad he trains with at El Attifaq..
it’s a fair point because if you look at their squad they have Henderson 33, Winaldum 32, Demarai Gray not exactly a top notcher. Also Moussa Dembele, ex Lyon and Celtic. A couple of unknowns from Europe and the rest are local Saudis.
Training is not going to be anywhere near the standard he has left at Liverpool.
Gerrard is the manager who left Villa with his tail between his kegs.
Henderson will still have some fitness from his Liverpool training at the start of the season but he is likely to go down and down as the season goes on. He certainly wasn’t flying in Poland.
At least Maguire is training at a high standard.
Gareth has to look now at replacing the pair of them.

Of course Philips starts in midfield, despite playing fewer minutes last season than I did. You just know Southgate has decided Maddison failed his out-of-position audition.

Just got home from cricket nets with the kids and seen the lineup.
Fuck me sideways!
How the fuck is he playing Phillips against Scotland? Be brave FFS, surely Rice can hold the midfield with Bellingham and Madders?

I've had more than enough of Southgate now, a total coward of a manager.

Honestly - looking at the line-up - its just as well that Maddison will get most of the night off.

We want our players to get rested during these types of meaningless games. Be thankful, and hope that he does not come on late...
