Don’t mind Mardle and I usually don’t mind studd. But he was awful tonight
His commentary on 'the greatest leg of darts of all time' is some of the best commentary ever! It's right up there with anything from any sport imo. He will forever be remembered for that alone because whatever happens that will always be the greatest ever leg, it literally can't be beaten and his commentary is very much part of that moment.

Never cared for darts and all I have seen the past week or so is all about Littler. Even on Sky News website today it's been about him and nothing about the winner. Think they've gone well over the top with it.

You are right that they are going ott, and the pressure they are putting on the PDC to get him into the Premier league is enormous. I hope the PDC hold firm like they said they would though and don't include him. He's too young to spend the entire year on the road under the media spotlight.

Fantastic final, gutted for Littler especially missing that double 2 to go 5-2 up but credit Humphreys he played incredibly for the most part those sets he was averaging 112,113 and taking out multiple 100+ finishes were insane.

Littlers time will come but he lit up the tournament and was a credit to himself especially the way he handled defeat at such a young age with such grace and maturity, at 16 if I'd lost at monopoly never mind a world sports final I'd be having a right old tantrum so big respect to him.

Amazing commentary and leg.

Also loved his commentary last night when Littler did an incredibly checkout and he was like "that was dirty, that was filthy, that was rotten" haha love it.

Littler in the PL
Mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, I look forward to watching him up against Humphries, MVG and Smith regularly. On the other hand I think it’s a bit much at such a young age.

Bit disappointed that Peter Wright is still in it - he was pretty poor throughout 2023 and him messing about with his darts every match has become a bit tiresome. Would have loved to see Cullen or Dobey instead.

To be honest it’s pretty outrageous that they have 4 wild cards at all, considering the difference it makes to livelihoods. For instance, Humphries was 5th in the order of merit last year but Dobey got in ahead of him from 21st. Won the first night and got 70k for his efforts coming 7th out of 8. Do agree on Wright even if it’s wildcards - came last in 2023 which should count for something, only 8th in the order of merit but that includes 2022 results or he would be lower still

They've gone for the hype and viewing figures.
It's Sky's main event of the calendar even over the World Championship. They were 100% piling the pressure on the PDC to put him in, and it looks like Eddie Hearn has bottled it.

That final was the most-watched non-Football programme on Sky Sports ever. People tuned into the darts who haven't watched before, or haven't watched for years (I'm in that category) because a 16 year old phenomenon was playing. There is no way that Sky are going to miss the opportunity to make a fair few quid.
Is it irresponsible? Probably. Will it have the desired effect? Absolutely.

I get people aren't that enthused by Littler going in to the PL but to be honest this is Darts one shot at capturing lightening in a bottle.

never has the country been so swept up in the darts, i really do not blame them for trying to capitalise on this and ultimately it should lead to better packages for the players so win win really.

it is a fun event and watch so if done right it could be huge for the sport.
