De Jong is on something like 700k per week for another 2 years. He's not going anywhere
Yeah that’s why they are going to try and push him out the door. They will probably have to negotiate a pay off of some sort but it will be preferable to them keeping him for another two years.

They will find a way to get rid of De Jong if that's what they unanimously decide on, irrespective of what he's on. I don't think his extreme salary means that him staying to get every last penny is a foregone conclusion.

Sure they'll try and force him out but not sure he'll accept a significant drop in wages. I guess it's possible if they pay him the majority of the transfer fee.

Could be that they pay the difference between his new wage and what he gets, I am sure we have had that happen with us a couple of times. Would still be better for Barcelona as paying less overall plus a transfer fee.

Haven’t Barcelona tried in the past to try and sell De Jong with no luck because of the backdated pay they owe him? I’m sure that’s part of the reason he didn’t join Man United. Unless it’s a club he’s desperate to join I’m not sure what is going to change this summer.

He’s started the last two matches for Brugge.

Got a lovely assist last week and had a hand in 2 goals in the match a couple of weeks ago too. They play Anderlecht today.

I hope we are still monitoring him.

I think the injury has been overplayed by Brentford and they simply got cold feet about spending big the moment any sort of risk was established. I reckon he comes to us in the summer, hopefully alongside another more experienced winger (cough Neto cough).

What’s the summary for those who don’t have time for Football London to force a thousand adverts at once directly onto our retina?
Essentially we are still interested, or at least monitoring him, along with other top clubs, no concerns about injuries from his recent medical, Brugge aren’t looking to lower their asking price. That’s pretty much the importation stuff. He’s playing regular again.

Another classy performance from him today. Didn’t get any goals or assists but was causing all sorts of problems in Brugge’s 3-0 win against Antwerp. In general he has been impressing me a lot recently. Here are some highlights from his game against Anderlecht the other week. He did pick up a hamstring injury recently which is always a concern but in general he looks so deadly. I hope we still have an eye on him.

On a side note I think we should have a good look at Onyedika for the dm role. Not sure why more clubs aren’t going for him. He’s so integral to Brugge and only 22. Very very good DM in the making imo. In general Brugge have a few young players we should look at including De Cuyper, Sabbe and Spileers. I also really really like the look of Skóraś but at 24 he’s probably not a player we will be looking at. Ether way Onyedika is def one we should be watching.

Edit: here is Onyedika highlights from the same game as above

Hes been going up a level recently.

So what’s the score with his body? Will he never pass a medical or able to be insured?

Thanks for the update.

He sounded like such an exciting signing in January but then the possibly injury issues came out and even Brentford backed out.

Would be great if the injuries aren't a permanent issue.

He’s such an exciting talent who always seems to effect games. He also does the defensive dirty work which is not something you associate with more fleet footed young wingers.

I really hope he can get over his injury issues as he could really have a very bright future.

Good to hear.

Like most I'm hoping for a complete reinvigoration of our attacking options in the summer. Buying top quality isn't always easy for a number of reasons. Nusa is a player who could be top quality, available and obtainable by us.

I’d honestly be tempted to sell Solomon and pass on Werner then look to buy two LW and one RW with Nusa being one of the two LW. Unlikely and expensive i know but still one can dream.

You can just tell he's going to be a proper player.

Give him a season at Brighton/Brentford/Leipzig/Napoli etc.. and he will probably be worth £60m+

Hope we sign him in the summer (providing his medical concerns are addressed)

I'm so on the fence with Werner it's ridiculous. I know his wages are high but part of me still thinks it's a good deal, especially if we bring an a younger player like Nusa.

Sales are going to be a big part of anything we do.
