On a serious note the worst I have ever experienced was Watford Burnley although getting bottled by a Wall fan comes a close second!

Been caught up in it a few times with City away QF FA cup (93), Leeds away in the cup (Jan 99), Seville away 07 and Chelsea away QF FA cup 07 springing to mind.

Not fighting, being attacked. It was the Suicide Squad doing what they do best. I was like Linford on speed that day.

Only real issue I've ever had was Leeds strangely. Got chased down street with my old man when I was late teens near the Lane, guys jumping over cars to get at us. Nearly shat myself. Mounted police saved us

Worst hooligan-like behaviour I've had was not football related. Went to uni in Preston and we got started on by a load of locals, saw a mate take a pint glass to the face but one guy attacked us with a crutch he nicked off a disabled guy he didn't even know. Life can go proper Saints Row from time to time

Used to go to most away games in the 80s and strangely the scariest experience was at Filbert Street where with my dad and brother we managed to find ourselves in the middle of a narrow street about 50 yards long with the Lecister mob at one end and the Spurs mob at the other end both giving it large before charging each other, how we managed to get out of the way I still don't know.

The other game that sticks out is the '93 FA S/F against the goons where we happened to reach the top of Empire Way just as it kicked off and the police horses were trampling on anything in their path.

I remember going to an away game with my Watford supporting mate when bright & wright were playing for Palace, must have been about '89. Metal fences separated us from the Neanderthal palace fans who were threatening to cut us up etc, just the kind of thing 30 plus year old men do to lads who are 14/15... then they smashed shit out of the coach....
It was like a scene out of ID I tells ya, shit me right up!

The police are sometimes a force for good;) For some idiotic reason as 15 year olds we followed 50 older Spurs boys into the West Ham end in 1970...the West Ham fans were clearly unimpressed and we spent the whole game under threat of death or worse guarded by about 20 police. They escorted us out at the end...remember Big Jim... Hopkins ...Black Sammy as a few of the names....used to do the same in the North Bank Highbury before kick off most years then....crazy little kids eh?

Society was way different at that time. Young, impressionable and in awe of those guys. I remember Sammy, Crazy Keith, Vic. Worst I saw at the Lane was that Chelsea game around 74? Actually felt sorry for them! After the game, mayhem all along the High Road.
