I assuming the ITK side of things has kind of perished now, here is a kink to the Arsenal/Arshavin saga from The Indy...

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/arsenal-complete-arshavin-signing-1544597.html

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Russia playmaker Andrei Arshavin.

The Gunners agreed a deal for the player with his former club, Zenit St Petersburg, just minutes before yesterday's 5pm transfer deadline and had to wait until today for the move to be ratified by the Premier League.

That has now been forthcoming and the 27-year-old has joined for an undisclosed fee, signing what the north Londoners call a "long-term" contract.

Arsenal were forced to delay naming Arshavin as their player until late this afternoon as it was one of a number of transfers awaiting approval by the Premier League board because of administrative delays caused by the severe snow which crippled London's transport networks yesterday.

However, when asked if he was an Arsenal player, the Russian international told his personal website this morning: "I think so. The negotiations came to a close and there will be details [on Tuesday].

Been away for a few days and i've missed so much, didn't realise the deadline day was today, thought it was tomorow for some reason. Gutted.

But i'm happy about the Van Der Vaart deal.

I am still confident this will go through. All recent deals that have gone to the wire have gone through. Be it Cole/Gallas, Benjani...Arshavin.

I just think if it was out of the question we would of been told by now - or if we were way off with the paper work. They have to go through the proper channels to approve it. The longer it goes on the more likely it wll happen IMO - within reason of course.

Total incompetence on our part

We get a call with two hours to go offering us a world class player for £10m less than was agreed 24 hours previously and we try and push it through, and all you can come up with is "total incompetence".

Even if it goes through, we need to look long at hard at ourselves this window. Fuckin useless. And Harry had a dig at Levy in his Sky Spts News interview, when he was talking next to his car. He said "The Chairman rang me and said we can get him for 8m, do you want him? I said yea if you think you can get him, i mean i dont want to spend your money...."

No snow though, unfortunately.

I thought it was just me.

I wondered about that comment and thought it was an odd thing to say.

Just got a call, Apparently we released the leak to SSN as we processed the paperwork. Harry thinks we did everything on time but thats not his side of the job. It sounds to me that we are relying on Madrid to prove they faxed theirs over on time, unless there really was a problem (can be proved?) our end

My boss said i can have tomorrow off if this dont go through, compasionate leave lol

Spanish mate says: Good news in the spanish press. They are convinced that the deal will go through, stating clearly that he's already a Spurs player and Perez has called the premier league to explain that the delay was due to them not understanding that the window closed earlier in England.
Sounds like all so much bollocks but i'm happy to clutch at straws at this stage.

Wouldnt be Spurs if the deal went ahead simply, quickly and on time.

That is a perfect excuse. Real phoning prem and saying it's their fault. If that happens and it goes through the real Madrid bosses are legends!!

I think that is more harry defending his reputation from the "wheeler - dealer" brigade. He is often accused of spending clubs money till they go bust remember
